Lots of good to talk about here. The first thing to talk about is how the product looks, and it looks great. The faux wood and brushed plastic work surprisingly well together to produce an understated good-looking appearance. The numbers are bright, crisp, and sharp -- very very easy to read for everything except maybe the month and day, which are a bit more compressed. But since those are the two least important pieces of information on this clock to me, I don't mind at all.The included temperature sensor is accurate, and has an excellent range. I'm particularly impressed by the fact that both the clock battery state and the temperature monitor battery state are both included on the display, so you can see in advance which need to be replaced and when. The battery life on both have been terrific for me. I've been using the set for several months now and I haven't yet had to replace the batteries on either the clock or the sensor.Everything else about the product is as you would expect, including the super-accurate clock, plus a superfluous but fun moon phase. All in all, a great product and one that I can recommend highly!

I have been using La Crosse atomic clock/weather displays for almost 20 years. My original clock still works like a charm but the outside sensor went bad and they dont make a replacement anymore. So I finally bought another one and settled on this one. This thing is awesome. Atomic time is deadly accurate and even has a digital seconds display, has the indoor/outdoor temp just like my old clock did, has the date, and the display is just the right size and easy to read. The clock is very stylish in person (pic doesnt really do it justice) and will fit any decore. The clock can be hung up or it can be placed on a desk, shelf, or nightstand and has an alarm (have not used that so I cant comment on it other than I know it has one). It has a clear battery level indicator, moon phase, and the little arrows beside the temp displays indicate the direction of the barometric pressure. The only thing I could think of that you could do to improve this clock would be to have a lighter background with darker numbers like some of the brands amazon carries (like the Sony big display clock). Just a really cool La Crosse product I am super happy with.

I've always been a fan of this style of clock. Having something on the wall that gives you not just the time but the day/date/month, the phase of the moon, AND both the inside and the outside temperature seemed almost miraculous some years back when they first came out. I think I ordered my first one sometime before Y2K, and have had maybe five others since then. The problem has always been that, in one way or the other, each clock did not live up to the hype. Most have been devilishly hard to set up: the buttons and pushing combination needed to achieve the correct settings were complicated, and often the instructions just made things more complicated (thank GAWD for YouTube!). Some took a long time (days, even longer) to talk to whatever it is that they talk to (National Bureau of Standards?), to get the exact time and date right, and even then there were usually mistakes. One never did. Temperature readings, especially the outside temps, were at best approximations that could vary by as much as 5-6 degrees F., and one clock had the annoying habit of displaying "NO" for outside temp. whenever it got below zero (and living in Minnesota at the time that happened far too frequently). To sum up, they were fun--and fascinating--but VERY annoying. In fairness I've always been a price shopper, but those cheap(er) Chinese knockoffs just don't cut it.Last month my then-clock decided to totally lose it's mind, so I went to old standby Amazon to check what was out there. The usual page after page after page of the aforesaid knockoffs, but I DID see the one I ended up buying, the one by LaCrosse Technologies. I did have one by LaCrosse Technologies a long time back when they first came out, and though it did have its fair share of annoying habits it did, in retrospect, perform better than the subsequent knockoffs. The price at $45 was a bit higher than most of the knockoffs but I figured what the heck and ordered it. (LaCrosse Technologies products are made in China too but at least the NAME is American!).Anyway, when it arrived I handed it off to my wife to set up as she is better at those things than I am. It took maybe five minutes to install the batteries and get the wall unit humming (actually it doesn't hum but you know what I mean...). It talked to whatever it is that it was supposed to talk to and within a short period of time (couple hours as I recall) all readings appeared correct. For the outside sensor, I built sort of a small birdhouse-looking thing with an open face (maybe 6" high by 2" wide by 2" deep, but no front or bottom so it is open to the air), tacked it to the north face of a tree in the yard and hung the sensor in it. I had previously installed the batteries in the sensor and it matched the inside temp. reading exactly, so I didn't anticipate any weirdness when it was placed outside. I was right. There was none. That was all on the first day. Since then everything has been working as it should with exactly zero problems.,Anyway...WHAT I LIKE1. Ease of setup (see above)2. Accuracy of time/temp. readings (so far, anyway)3. BIG numbers for the time. The time numerals are over 2" high and easy to see from across the room. Even the seconds ticking off are in numerals an inch high.4. Attractive to look at.5. The setting buttons are on the top, not on the back, which means you get to watch the FRONT of the clock as you set things up.6. It doesn't try to do too much. I've had 'em that had a lit face, kept all recorded temps, give highs and lows for every day, had a color readout, and a few other things. Those were the ones that gave me the most headaches. This one doesn't. It might not do as much as some of the others, but what it DOES do, it does very well.WHAT I DON'T LIKEVery little. Actually nothing so far. The last remaining bridge to be crossed is to see how it performs when we go on daylight savings time. The other clocks I've had, had real issues with that.BOTTOM LINESo far so good (actually more like excellent). I'm giving it four stars. If it doesn't lose it's mind when comes time to change over to EDT I'll amend this review to five stars.Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

I've used LaCrosse Sky Scan clocks for the better part of 20 years and they are excellent pieces of machinery. I read some reviews where people said that they had a hard time reading the clock at different angles. My clock is 7 feet in the air, on a wall, and I literally cannot find an angle that I can't read it at! As of right now, the outside temperature gauge is reading correctly and the inside temperature is very accurate. This clocked synced very quickly with the atomic clock and changed perfectly when the dreaded daylight savings time happened a few days ago. If you are contemplating buying a new outside temperature transmitter or buying a new clock, you should really check your prices because buying the whole clock and transmitter was only about 5 dollars more than buying just the transmitter. Also, as of the time I'm writing this, you do not need to purchase the "clock with transmitter" option on Amazon. The cheapest option comes with a transmitter. If you purchase the "clock with transmitter" you will get two transmitters and a clock.

Love the ease of setup, size of the numbers, and ability to use 1 sensor for 2 room units.

Update: After a few days, it connected to the atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado, and has stayed connected ever since!I bought this LaCrosse weather station after returning a competitor's model that just didn't work. This one works great. As soon as I put batteries in the control unit and remote sensor, they linked up. I placed the remote sensor in a shaded area on our deck, wrapped in a Ziploc bag to keep moisture and rain out. It has sent signals to the control unit faithfully for the last couple of days. I've had LaCrosse units before, and they generally worked well. They are also supposed to connect with the atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado, but our unit doesn't seem to have done that--and I can't fault it, as we are living in Nova Scotia, a long, long way from Colorado! The unit is very easy to set up--no complicated directions. It runs on two AA batteries--plus another two AA batteries for the remote sensor. I highly recommend using lithium batteries, such as those produced by Eveready. Why? Because they last four times longer than regular alkaline batteries, but most importantly--they do not leak! The control unit uses a liquid crystal display (LCD) so it doesn't need backlighting to view the screen. The unit displays the day of the week, indoor and outdoor temperatures, the moon phase, the date and, of course, the time. You can also use it as an alarm clock. I recommend this over the "fancy" units with colourful displays that are likely not to work--like the defective unit I had previously purchased. You really can't go wrong with a Lacrosse weather station.
