This is a really nice pen.The Lamy Safari line of pens has been popular for a long time for a very good reason: They're well constructed, comfortable to use, and smooth writing. The "Al-Star" line is an upgraded version of the original Safari; the barrel of the pen is aluminium rather than plastic.The pen feels perfect to me. It's got some heft, but it's not too heavy. I find the diameter just right; I can grip it without fatiguing my hand. The click mechanism has a solid, well-machined feel to it. The end of the barrel, where you grip the pen with your fingers, is a textured plastic. The clip is a sort of heavy, smoothly chromed wire that doesn't snag anything.The pen is very attractive. The barrel is a gorgeous deep blue, which goes well with the black and smoke-gray plastic parts.I haven't had it long enough to know anything about the longevity of the refill. However, it appears to be a high-capacity unit. The ink flows very well, with no skipping or glopping.Over all, I like this pen a lot. It's certainly not as cheap as most ballpoint pens, but it's not cheaply made, either. It slots nicely into the gap between very good disposable pens and high-cost designer pens. If I lost mine, I'd buy another one right away.

Buy it. I still have Lamy pens I bought in the 80’s. Just bought refills. I have all kinds but this is an inexpensive pen and writes like a much more expensive one. I used to sell expensive pens. This does not have weight but feels great in your hand and consistently writes without blotches. I still write and if you do, it is worth every penny. Keep your eyes on it. People will love it and will forget to give it back. I worked in the casinos for a while and players always FORGOT to give it back. Even if you do give one away to a favorite person, it is inexpensive enough to buy another. But you can buy more expensive Lamy’s and well they are just the best.

Was hoping for a better writing experience but, honestly, it's a very nice pen regardless. Solid body construction, heavy, great positive reaction clicker. Writes like any decent ballpoint with a little bit better flow like rollerball. Just a little fine for me. Still, very good very nice pen. Worth every cent.

Another smooth writing pen by Lamy that fits well in my hand and looks attractive too! One of six that I own, I do enjoy the aluminum body more than the traditional nylon Safari series body. The color is a cool blue that is stylish for this season.

Was my favorite pen to use at work. Handles well, smooth and nice looking lines. Bought 8/4 and it died 10/30. While writing the tip came off and will not screw back on. Threads either fell apart or it can’t withstand much use. Costs a lot for such short life span and not even daily use.

I’m very satisfied with this pen. It’s well made, very functional, I like the color and it’s ease of use. I would recommend this Lamy pen.

I decided to try this as I already have a couple Safari pens. As one would hope, fit and finish is a step up from the Safari (as I stated in my review of those, the seam issue). I like the aluminum body, it looks and feels good. Another thing I like, it uses the same ink as pens I already own. I'm very happy with it, and I think the fit and finish is worth the extra cost.

I bought my first Lamy Safari ball point about 20+ years ago in Berkeley, California.. It was so expensive! $16.00! I still have it and bought refill on here. I've stuck with Lamy from Berkeley, San Francisco, Maine, L.A ,Del Mar, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon and home Canada..they're a good luck charm for my writing career, because they're great pens.Writing implement that gets better with age? As I have...I'm gonna stick like glue to my Lamy's. I purchased this oceanblue as incentive to keep writing, computer are great....better yet... hold a Lamy to paper letting the prose hit the page.... bliss

Penna a sfera di gran qualità . Fusto in alluminio che rende la Al Star più bella e seriosa, punta scorrevole che scrive da meraviglia, consigliata agli scrittori che non devono chiedere mai!

Ich nutze diesen Lamy Kugelschreiber mit ergonomischen Griff sehr gerne, da er sehr angenehm zu halten ist und man mühelos längere Zeit damit schreiben kann.

C'est mon premier stylo l'ami et je dois dire que je suis vraiment satisfait même si je trouve que la mine n'est pas très imbibée d'encre . À vrai dire je découvre la marque sûrement que c'est étudié pour en tout cas c'est tout de même très agréable d'écrire au quotidien . J apprécié grandement la partie en caoutchouc avec un bon maintien au niveau de l'index.
