This hamster cage is a fantastic value, all things considered. But it’s important to understand that you will likely need additional items to make it work for you. First the good: it’s huge. The wood is good quality. It looks nice and is relatively stable. I bought this for $120 and it’s easily worth twice that, when you compare it to other similar items.But you’ll have to do a little work. The instructions are decent but you’ll have to look forward a few steps to find orientation on some of the pieces, so you don’t cover up screw holes. It takes a good 2-3 hours to assemble.The assembly makes use of dowels for strength, however the dowels are mostly used on interior pieces and lacking in the outside corners where they would provide a lot more stability. It’s still decently stable, however.The hinges are cheap and the door latches are absolute garbage. You’ll need to buy better ones. You can keep the hinges but your doors might be a little crooked. The latches cannot be saved.The other thing is the wood is unfinished so a couple of hamster pees and it’s going to stink. If you buy some food safe cutting board wax- usually made with beeswax and mineral oil- and coat every flat surface, it will keep the urine from soaking into the wood.Besides that it’s a great cage and great value for the money. I’m happy with my purchase.

i loved this at first especially after considering how much time it took me to put it together just for my hamster to chew holes all over it. i cannot believe i paid so much for it to not even have a wood coat on it to prevent her from chewing.

First the good. Compared to what our gerbils had before, they absolutely love their new cage. And that, of course, is the most important part. When finished, the cage is quite sturdy and will give your pets many hours of pleasure running from level to level. It did take me five hours to put the cage together, but that might be because I don't have much experience with such things. The instructions were very well done and simply and clearly laid out, so even someone with little experience will be able to get the job done.Now some of the bad. When finished, the four acryl windows rattle in their fixings. What we'll probably attempt to do is use silicon around the edges on the outside to make the window more stable. I wouldn't put any silicon on the inside, since hamsters and gerbils, etc., tend to gnaw at it, which might be detrimental to their health.In our case, the door frames were a bit malformed, so it can be difficult to get them to close properly. But since it's wood, that will probably vary from cage to cage. Sadly, the doors are a bit flimsy in that they can open inward if you push too hard. What the two doors in the front of the cage really need are one more latch each (one near the top and one near the bottom), and a support on the inside so the door won't open inward, like the black metal support used for the mesh door at the top of the cage. In my opinion, the provided latches aren't very good, and we might want to replace them with better ones at some point.But again, all in all, it's a good cage, especially for the price. The manufacturer used light wood, so the cage isn't heavy, and two people should be able to move the cage easily. Last but not least, let it be said that we don't regret purchasing this product, and we can recommend it for others.

I purchased this because I live in the country and a tiny mouse weaseled in last year and has been sleeping in the laundry basket and at night going on missions to eat all of the marshmallows. The kids and I affectionally called her Minnie and occasionally see her from time to time. We didnt have the heart to hurt her or toss her back outside, only to find an access point in again, so we bought this cool condo with room for a friend if Mickey shows up. This took a bit to setup, you need a very small phillips screwdriver, and also, I treated it with cutting board oil beforehand to protect from smells permeating. I used some cloth placemats from tjmaxx and then decorated as if it was a credenza. My kids got some extra small canvases from Michaels and painted artwork to hang inside with command strips and we are going to add some fairy lights here soon. My only critique is if you have a very small climber like minnie, get something to put on the top lattice because they will squeeze through. Also, there is a small gap behind the drawer, that Minnie actually squeezed through and pushed the drawer out enough to escape through the bottom. I put a heavy rock from outside and then used strong tape to secure the drawer. Anyway, this is awesome and I'm happy to have my laundry basket and pantry back with nobody getting hurt.

This is NOT CHEW PROOF at ALL !!!! Also harder to Clean than they say. I got 6 months out of this cage. I'm so tired how companies can get away with so much lying !!! The only way this cage would be chew proof is if your pet doesn't have teeth !!!😤

This is the worst enclosure. So dangerous for sensitive little hams. My hamster immediately tried jumping off the third level balcony. The acrylic “safety†railings were not cut long enough leaving gaps for baby hams to get caught in or fall through. Just horrible. I had to sand down the corners of the acrylic because they were so sharp and I also had to sand the entire enclosure to ensure my hams didn’t get splinters or snags. I’m so annoyed. There’s absolutely no way I’m taking it apart to return when it took me 7 hours to build so I ended up going to Home Depot and modifying the entire thing to be safe enough. What a mess.

I was very excited to get this cage, looked at many and found this to be the best for the price. My husband and I had no problems following the instructions. We did make a few modifications. We bought new hinges, locks and legs. Also put a board on the bottom for a base for the legs to attach too. We bought another cage for our grand daughter, did the same modification plus we our going to reenforce the top lid because she has a cat that will sit on the cage. Very happy with the cage and would recommend it.
