When Leonard Bernstein wrote his West Side Story Symphonic Suite he called for a few intriguing percussion instruments and mallets. One of those instruments was a set of bongos with three pitches. Now, one can always go out and buy a second pair of bongos, but you'll still need to tweak the tuning. Enter the folks at LP with a different solution...a smaller bongo! This works perfectly! LP quality and know-how make the Generation III Tri-Bongo a no-brainer. I've had my set for over 5 years and have been grateful to have them sitting around the studio. Granted, I don't use them a lot (because there just isn't THAT much orchestral or percussion literature that calls for them) but when I do, they are awesome. I highly recommend. Now, if I could just find an easy place to order the replacement head for the 5.5" bongo, it would be 5 stars+.
