I use these or short simplex cables frequently to verify far side cabling to routers/switches, and this takes up harly any space. I can rarely find someone to stand around and confirm they see red on the right jack at 2 or 3 in the afternoon, let alone at 2 or 3 AM.These are an easy way to make sure that the right strands ended up going to the right device/port. Expected port comes up on the far end, you're good to go. If not, investigate and make adjustments. Same as T1 loopback plug or ethernet loopback plug or whatever - they are all useful.I wish they would make better ferrule protectors for these, though, like a snap on cap.

Fiber loop back plug works exactly as expected. Used to confirm layer 1 on a new fiber run worked great!

Bought to do a loop back test. It's small enough to just throw it in your pocket

I bought three of these just to have them. The next day after they arrived I had to verify links to a secure forensic lad that required escorts and wait time for access. Luckily it was a six strand. I plugged one into each of the three ports at the lab and shot my VFL on the A strand of each port returned to the B port. The time that saved me was amazing. I will probably buy more for higher strand counts.

Reconnected 'Command System' in my 'new to me' Mercedes Benz. The audio system (BOSE) uses a special (D2B) 'fiber optic' network with several MBZ only electronic devices. When one goes down, everything stops and while diagnosing WHICH is straightforward, cost of repairing that component is sobering.

The black cover slid off after a single production use.
