At this price point ($25 paid plus $5 shipping), these are excellent curtains, however, they are obviously not made of velvet, but a polyester. They really do fully block out light and are blackout, however, when mounting, you will have light leakage from the top of the window, as with all curtains, so measure your windows carefully. We installed these in our master bedroom and bathroom windows on the 2nd floor of a townhouse, primarily to help insulate our room during the winter months and to block out light so that we can sleep during the day when we work nights: these curtains absolutely accomplish both splendidly. We mounted the curtain rods at a height that kept the curtains bunched up a little against the carpet, helping to further the insulation around the window. We also used curtain rods that wrapped around 90 degrees to the wall, so that the curtains can be pushed up flush against the wall: this has really helped our room and it stays much warmer during the cold winter nights.The only way these could be better is if they were two or three times as thick and be made of genuine velvet. But obviously, that would dictate a much higher price...so to be reasonable, these earn five stars.

I am ecstatic at the elegance and amazing quality of these curtains!!! They transformed the look of my living room. These curtains provide an instant makeover! I will definitely put them throughout the house! I now know exactly what curtains to buy! Hooray, for not having to look any further!!!

Very attractive and nice, heavy duty fabric. The only problem is that the dimensions ar a COMBINED width of 72" and not 72" for each panel. So I had to buy a second pair of panels in order to cover the width of the window.

The description says these curtains are 74 inches wide and they are much shorter. My window is 73 inches wide and these only cover about half of it.
