Our child has started having an interest in writing, so we got these as a way for them to practice holding the pencil correctly and to get the feel of the letter and number shapes. The letters and numbers have big enough indents that a young child can trace them with their finger, which seems to be the starting place before a child picks up the stylus. We love that these are double sided. The shape/line side is great for helping kids feel the flow of writing. I wish the boards had the lines directing which way to move the stylus printed inside each letter, but they do provide a piece of paper that shows that. My toddler doesn't have any desire to look at the paper though. These appear that they will hold up well. Our kids have occasionally carried them around by the stylus which is attached by a string to the boards, and the strings are holding firm.

Ordered for my son who is having difficulty with his letters and writing. This makes it feel line a game for him and he has greatly enjoyed it. Exactly as described and very well made.

I ordered several of these alphabet boards in order to find the best of the bunch. Out of the three I tested, this was the winner. However, the bar is rather low.The Pros:Larger size than the competition.Smooth, deep letters that won’t splinter.Good font.Pen attached with string.Like the handles on the sides. The wood looks nicer than the competitor’s bamboo boards. The Cons:It’s challenging to see the letters against the busy wood grain (hence why I colored them black). The purple string that attaches the pen is about an inch too short to comfortably trace “Y†and “Zâ€I spend 35 minutes painstakingly tracing all the letters with a permanent marker so that my kids could more easily see them. This is annoying, when it would have been so easy for the manufacturers to just laser burn the letters prior to sealing the wood.As you can tell from the images I included, both competitor’s boards are engraved crookedly, with all the lowercase letters nudged over to the left of the board. They also both have smudged printing and a lower quality feel in the hands. They are also both significantly smaller in size.

High quality boards. Love that the string is attached to both pencils. My daughter (she just turned 4) loves to use this in the car. Nice to have two boards - one for Abcs and one for numbers , counting, and tracing patterns. The edges and finish are smooth, no possible way to get splinters.I like that this is educational, easy to use when in the car or on a plane or at a restaurant. Don't need to use screen time or bring along dry erase markers etc for the wipe clean books. My daughter usually just scribbles on the pages of those with the marker. This product is actually getting her to practice her letters and handwriting /fine motor skills. The packing was really nice - it came in a box of its own with instructions and a card that entitles you to a 90 day warrantee.I don't think I'll be needing that because we are so pleased with this product.I think $30 is a fair price point for this item. When my kids are finished with these I'll probably be able to pass them on to another family. I can tell these will last a long time.I did not receive anything for writing this review.
