I purchased these LED's to accelerate macro algae growth for nutrient export in a saltwater aquarium/ reef tank. I used a media reactor readily available. Wrapped the LED light strip a round the clear reactor tube starting from the bottom. I used the entire 16 feet of LED's. I held the light strip in place with a small piece of clear packing tape. It's important to mention to face the lights towards the inside of the reactor. I used a smart outlet to turn on/off the LED lights automatically. The length of time the lights are on is going to produce the photosynthesis period and when the lights are off will provide time for cell division. I started with a golf ball size ball of Chaetomorpha and with in one week's time it has grown tremendously. I suspect by this time next week I will be ready for my first harvest of chaeto.

I had high hopes for these LED grow light strips, but they fell short of expectations, especially for anyone looking for effective plant growth lighting. While the flexibility and waterproof design are convenient, the actual performance of the lights in terms of brightness and spectrum left a lot to be desired.First, the advertised “full spectrum†sounded promising, but when I measured the light output, it was far below what’s needed for healthy plant growth. For seedlings, grow lights should provide 5,000–7,000 lux, but this light only delivered 204 lux at 12 inches and 510 lux at 1 inch. That’s barely enough to light a dim room, let alone support plant photosynthesis.Additionally, the PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) was disappointing. Effective grow lights should fall in the range of 400–800 µmol/m²/s, but this one provided just 2 µmol/m²/s at 12 inches and 10 µmol/m²/s at 1 inch. Similarly, the DLI (Daily Light Integral) should be 10–20 mol/m²/day for plants to thrive, but this light only achieved 0.2 mol/m²/day at 12 inches and 0.9 mol/m²/day at 1 inch. These numbers make it clear that this light isn’t suitable for serious indoor gardening or growing anything beyond low-light houseplants. On the plus side, the strips are easy to install with the included adhesive backing, and the ability to cut the strip to size is a thoughtful feature. However, even at close range, these lights are far too dim for any meaningful plant growth. If you’re looking for ambient lighting or decorative use, this might work, but for actual plant growth, I’d recommend investing in a more powerful and scientifically proven grow light. For me, this was a disappointing purchase, and I wouldn’t buy it again.

I previously bought LED plant lights. Some have light tubes built in. So once the light tube stops working you have to buy a whole new light. I didn’t want to throw away the entire light so I got these lights to just stick on the tube that went out. Much less wasteful! And the lights are even brighter than the original light tube.

Very easy to use and simple to attach to a USB smart plug for automatic cycling. Unfortunately, the light is fairly weak and inefficient. It must be mounted extremely close to the plants.

I pealed the coating off completely on a few strips before deciding that I prefer it on. I wanted the strips to be as dense as possible while laying flat so I cut into small strips and soldered together. Fun project. Trying to keep a full sun succulent happy.

Hard to set up but it might be more related to the shelving unit. It however is flexible and able to mold to the shape of the shelves. If you were to see it you would think I made a mess. Mu seeds are popping up left and right. Reading for transplanting outside after the first frost
