Residential landlines are only two wires. Usually red and green. The line coming in from the outside was Cat5e, which is to say four twisted pairs. Not a problem. This box has the phone jack on the front. Wired to four screw terminals on the inside. Two wires from the incoming cable, pair up with the two for phone and you're good to go. One plus I found... There are two thinner spots on the sides of the cover that match up with spots on the box allowing for side entry. This was just what I needed. A heavy duty scissor snipped out the "cap" and I was able to wire the incoming cable down into the side and face the phone jack to the left for easier access and not having to make a sharp turn in the wire.I believe the Leviton company has been around for years and this product -simple though it is- did not disappoint.

Exactly what I needed! Regular phone Jack's are becoming harder to find (at least in my area), neither of the big box lumber stores (Think Orange & Blue) carried flush mount - Neither did the W* superstore. I was very glad to find them here.Item worked as expected! Very pleased!

I used it to put a box on the wall that was just telephone wires sticking out of the wall. This cleaned it ip and retained functionality of the wires.

Wires are color coded. Only two wires are needed for DSL or telephone. Use the red and green if you only have one phone line. If your phone will not dial out, switch the colors. Hardly any power used in phone lines. Do not be scared. Do it yourself

Great price, easy install, came with a mounting pad that I used to stick to the bottom of my desk, I recommend this Leviton phone jack.

Includes double sized glue pad to mount device without using screws. Screws will also work and they are included.The connections inside are easy to connect use. Notice that this jack in white. Amazon also sells an almost identical jack in ivory color which is the more traditional color of telephone outlets. See listing for Allen Products for the ivory color. I have used the white and the ivory products and they are both excellent products.
