Reviews are meant to be about the equipment itself, not about other related experiences like delivery, but I'm going to add a caution here. This is a big heavy unit, shipping weight is 146 lbs. Bear in mind that this unit is going to be handled by a single person on its journey. That means it's going to be end over ended a fair amount. The packaging is quite strong, but it will get knocked around a fair bit on its way to you.My first unit was a bit banged up but the unit only had minor cosmetic damage but unfortunately after I'd installed it, with much hard work, it didn't work! Bugger! And that was at the start of a heatwave.I called out LG under warranty because I didn't want the hassle of returning it, and we discovered that the fan was jammed against the housing. It had to be returned. If you return something to Amazon, it has to be packaged, and fortunately I'd kept the packaging. It was no easy feat to repackage but I got it done. The unit was replaced quickly and the replacement packaging was banged up too, but the unit was fine.So what's the message here? Just be aware that it's big and heavy and it may get damaged in transit. Keep the packaging and test the unit before you waste time and energy on installing it!On the plus side, the $100 shipping is free with prime and it comes to your door.As to the unit itself, it's performed very well so far. It was a tight fit but the side covers slot into the window frame and the unit ends up very well sealed, top bottom and sides. My old Fridgidaire was more heavily engineered and had nicer directional vents and had infinitely variable fan speed but the heavier engineering was in areas that don't really matter. And the paint on the casing was heavier which is a plus.Overall, I'm happy with it. The return was a pain, especially during a heatwave, but it works well, the price was good, it's relatively quiet and the performance is up to snuff. The previous one lasted 18 years. Hopefully this one does as well.

I selected buying this 6000 BTU LG for my bedroom after first considered buying another Frigidaire, Haier or a GE air conditioner. I was particularly interested in an a/c unit with low noise, efficient running and of modest cost. Air flow was also important concept. The LG has a 52 decibel rating at low cooling compared to 51 decibel rating for the 6000 Frigidaire; essentially both being quieter than the 6000 Haier and hugely quieter than the 6000 GE. As a frame of reference 50 decibel is equivalent to the sound of high whisper or background sound of the average house. Sixty decibel is the range of typical conversation. Fifty-five decibel was the average decibel level for most window a/c’s in recent past years. To my ears, the fan noise and air turbulence from the output grill of this LG is about the same as the typical window box fan; the compressor over rides that sound mostly because it operates at a bit higher pitch. The Frigidaire seems to have a slightly quieter cooling compressor – but more of a rushing air turbulence from its front discharge grill that tends to offset that benefit. For some, noise is not a major concern as it can even be welcomed in moderation to act as white noise masking unwanted sounds. For me, a/c noise while sleeping can be a bother. However, I have slept very well with this LG while set on its energy saving mode. That setting allows fan to shut off with the cooling compressor – but with fan coming back on in 90 second intervals and running for 30 seconds to sample air temperature until triggered by a rise in temperature to run the compressor. This energy saving schemes seems excellent to me. No noise for a bit at a time and yet the air is kept from overly stagnating. The Frigidaire by contrast runs for 3 minutes after the compressor stops, then waits 10 minutes to run the fan for a super short 10 second span sampling the temperature. In that time span, I often grew a bit uncomfortable with still air becoming warm. The Haier runs 3 minutes like the Frigidaire after compressor stops and waits 10 minutes before recirculates the air for a 3 minute pattern. Both the LG and Frigidaire get extra energy saving by slinging condensation water from the compressor onto the back exchange fins. In heavy rain or high air moisture, the outward fan doing the slinging gets swamped by too much water to plow through, sometimes. This appears to be more a problem with my Frigidaire unit than with my new LG. Simple solution for me is to not use energy saving mode that stalls the fan in spurts from spraying the water over the outside fins – and also avoid using low fan speed. Medium or high fan speed plow through the water build-up well. The LG has a black drain plug on outside right rear. So far in the humid Florida weather, I have had no need to do this, but would simply open and then close the plug when circumstances allowed to return to better energy efficiency. The most pleasant aspect of this LG for me is the uncommon inclined cooling grill.at a 30 degree angle, approximately. While the Frigidaire and Haier have 4-way air direction control neither send cool air to my ceiling were hotter air rises. The LG incline grill sends cooling air that kisses my ceiling. I don’t experience the stratifying pockets of hot air like most other a/c’s leave. The Frigidaire is a solid, well built unit with a very high Consumer Report rating – but its 4-way air control seems to me to direct air flow marginally. I like the appearance of the LG over the Frigidaire or Haier; it resembling the a/c units found under the window and installed in the wall of most upper quality motels. The 6000 LG seems to run about as quite as those units. If you have experienced staying in a motel you’ll have a fairly good idea of the low 52 decibel range of this 6000 LG. .

Got this because the 30 year old 25,000btu window unit iny old house finally failed. This AC is really good and cools really well.I'm a bit nervous about it though.- Sounds like water sloshing when it turns on but none is visible anywhere.- The blower fan was crooked a bit when I first got it (possibly a drop during shipping) but it was easy to push into the correct position.- The front of the unit was dented despite there being no damage on the box itself so the dent had to be from the manufacturer. Had to use plyers to bend the metal into place so the front cover could be attached.- For some reason the clean filter light has been lit up since a week after using it despite the filter still being as clean as when it was taken out of the box.

Got this for my daughter who lives in a small apartment in Toronto (hot and humid). Halfway through her first full summer with it and she loves this unit. Says it's very quiet but keeps her bedroom nice and cool at night and controls the temp in her 4-500 sq foot apartment nicely. Very good value for money. She's not thinking of moving and paying much higher rents anymore.....

So far so good. Works great. Looks great (relative to others). Installed easily. Cools nicely. Just in time for summer. I am impressed with Amazon's speed and convenience of delivery. I don't normally think of buying something like this through Amazon but when I went to Home Hardware and Home Depot, neither had the variety of air conditioners in stock that I needed. Amazon on the other hand had the widest variety allowing me to buy exactly what I wanted so I bought through them and had it in two days.
