How to use:
1. Clean Surface: The surface should be clean, dry and dust-free so the tape sticks properly.
2. Apply Tape: Lay tape onto the surface, pressing down as you go. Don't stretch the tape, or it may lift or break.
3. Secure Tape: Press tape down firmly with a smooth edge, like a putty knife or credit card.
4. Let Tape Set: Wait about 30 to 60 minutes before you begin painting.
5. Wait: Wait until the paint is dry to the touch before removing the tape. Check the paint can for the manufacturer's dry times.
6. Score: Use a putty knife or razor blade to score along the edge of the tape. This prevents paint from being pulled up with the tape and from cracking along the paint line.
7. Tape: Taking your time, lift up the painter's tape and pull it back on itself, removing at a 45 degree angle. If adhesive sticks to the surface, try a 90-degree angle.
8. Clean Finish: You'll get a sharp, clean line and a professional looking paint job!

Bought 1” Lichamp black masking tape and the quality is very good dark black and smooth texture, smell is like normal masking tape nothing notable the stickiness matches my 3m masking tape. Also bought another brand in 1.5” and you can see it’s not as black and also the texture is rougher in comparison. Did not see the Lichamp in 1.5” or I would got that one in that size. This would be good because of its nice finish, dark black and quality for Art projects or places you want to use masking tape more permanently. In my pictures I show a behind a tv shelf I made out of an old Xbox series X wall mount I had and cut Lifeproof flooring to fit and the tape is to stabilize the top shelf. I’m impressed with the tape, will come in handy for various projects.

I have been using this tape in place of medical tape at the tattoo shop. It holds down dental bibs great to my workstations and also secures plastic wrap after the session. The black is a great look compared to other tapes of this style.

I bought this to actually see if I wanted to paint my shelves and windows black. It has a nice matte finish and deep black color, and really helped me visualize the room before buying any paint. Super easy to apply and remove, didn’t pull any paint off with it. Can’t ask for more from masking tape.

Lichamp 1 inch Black Masking Tape is a good quality tape. The tape itself is a good strength, and the adhesive seems like good quality. I find this kind of tape has a lot of uses, and the black color expands the possible uses. But be sure to think about the adhesive, and whether it fits the jobs you need to do.MASKING TAPE, WITH MEDIUM TO MEDIUM PLUS ADHESIVE: The adhesive on this Lichamp tape is stronger than many painters' tapes. Painters' tape is intentionally designed to have a light, easy to remove adhesive. Whether it's the tape you need will depend on the job you are doing.ACTUAL DIMENSION: The 1 inch tape is actually 1/32" less than 1 inch. That likely won't matter in many applications, but fyi in case it does. All of these tapes, including lighter adhesive painters' tapes, will sometimes take paint off a wall if the paint didn't adhere well, is peeling, got wet, and so on.I've always bought the name brand blue masking tape, and use it for dozens of jobs. But the price lately has just been crazy, so it has me looking for alternatives.

This 1-inch black painters' tape has a decent adhesion and does not leave a residue when removing. I use a lot of the Scotch blue painters' tape, and this compares admirably. I use the tape also in the workshop for woodworking a lot for glue-ups and masking. The only downside I have noticed is that the Scotch tape does stretch better than this tape when you need it to. This is useful in veneering, segmented glue-ups, and in molding glue-ups where you are pulling seams together as they dry and getting them clamped. Other than that, though, this tape works very well. For painting the black tape shows better than the blue tape around. However, in the shop, black tends to show the dust more. Not that is necessarily a bad thing, since it reminds you to clean up better and have the dust collector and air filter on more. I have had occasionally a few slivers when unrolling the tape though, but overall, this tape works well.

Last time I went out to buy a new roll of masking tape, I was surprised at how expensive it had become. So I stocked up with this 10-pack. To be honest, I got the black tape because it was a novelty. Is there a downside? In my mind, black is electrical tape, but I can get by that. Also, I can't write on it... that's another one and I bet that will bite me at some point. Just a couple things to consider. Otherwise it's just a different color for masking tape and it makes a distinctive contrast on anything I will be using it for. The tape has a good stick-value. It holds and it releases just like other quality masking tapes. Absolutely LOVE that it says it resists slivering, because when tape starts doing that, you have to throw it out. I did a quick test to check how crisp a line it maintains, and it passed (see photo)

I didn't need this much painter's tape but really for the cost to how much you're getting I figured just order the bulk pack. I have used this for several trim painting jobs and it works just as well for me as the blue stuff. I also like it and use it for marking levels on my squat rack of where I usually use the pegs. it's nice because it's black so it Blends in more with my weight equipment than the blue tape and green frog tape that I had previously on there. if you are a painter by trade or do a lot of painting or have a big project coming up this might be something to look into if you are someone who likes to tape before you paint.
