Welding for a fire-proof door manufacturer helped me pay for grad school. So when I decided to get back in to it: Surprize, Surprize, everything has gotten smaller and lighter - and more expensive. This helmet is “mid-range”. You can get ventilation systems, WiFi, and cool custom graphic but it will cost you something north of $350. I’m a weekend warrior welder. I don’t need that. But I do want the eye protection - and I like the 20% discount I got from Lincoln.Unless you’re a pro, buy this one. Don’t trust your eyes and face to something less.

Good upgrade from my older welding helmet. The lens color is a bit clearer and brighter for me

Comfortable, light weight, corrective lenses can be installed inside the helmet and much more that a welder need but easy to adjust the darkening response and delay. Option of grinding or arc welding. You can't go wrong with Lincoln

You can definitely see your weld better, blue like they say, but it is not like seeing in sunlight. It has been used it for silicon bronze mig welding on a Lincoln 115v machine. Those using more industrial levels of MIG welding might see a clearer advantage, so to say.The controls work fine, but the "off" view could be brighter. There are some cheap helmets with better stats, but I have faith the Lincoln is going to to last and be in use for a long time.I weld better now, the helmet does not try to amputate my ears like the old one and it is clearly a quality product. All in all was a good purchase. Someday there will be a technology that offers a completely clear view of welding, but it seems that will be later down the road. Weld quality is far more dependent on skill than helmets, but it is nice to have a good helmet as well.I feels good about this purchase.

I’m a “weekend welder”, but I weld frequently and take it seriously. I also wear glasses. The optics on this helmet are absolutely phenomenal. If you’re a full time pro, spend the extra money and buy the one with the larger lens. If you’re a fence builder or project maker or even a part time welder, you won’t find a better helmet. It’s comfortable (I spent the entire weekend in it, 20 hours welding with no headache), light, and the increased control from the improved visibility made me a better welder. Zero eye strain. Highly recommend!

I’ve been using this hood for about 6 months now for 40+ hours a week in a fab shop. It has a great color and makes it easy to see your puddle. It’s very lightweight, yet still durable.Just for the heck of it I tried to use my old Jackson hood and immediately took it off. I can’t stand the green color of the old hoods anymore, and the weight of the Jackson is far more than this Lincoln. I don’t know how I welded with the Jackson for so many years.. I could never go back.I’d love to purchase the more expensive Lincoln hood with the flashlight, but I can’t justify spending that much when this hood works so well. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a 40 hour production welder, this hood is a steal. 100% satisfied with my purchase.
