I had to make over a dozen octagons from 2x2s, about 12in across each. This clamp saved a ton of time and the result came out better than I think I could have gotten without it.It takes some patience to get this clamp set up right. One reviewer mentioned the belts slipping when you tighten the handle. This is true. But it's easy to fix by pinching the two belt clamps together with one hand as you tighten the knob with the other. I did this, and when I released my grip on the belt clamps, they didn't slip, probably because the added tension kept them in place.I also found that if I put the belt clamp on my frame and tightened it a little (so that it stayed in place) then I could adjust the glued corners to get them perfectly aligned, and the tighten the belt more to draw the corners in, pretty much like you do whenever clamping glued surfaces. The clamp comes with four corner pieces so if you're clamping a rectangle, you're all set. The clamp will work with other shapes but I think it works better if you have one of the corner pieces on every corner. So for an octagon, I needed eight. I designed and 3d printed new corner pieces. You can get the files by searching Thingiverse for "lipovolt" - if you have a 3d printer or have access to one (some libraries in my area have them now), you can make more corner pieces.

These did a great job clamping a drawer whose bottom came out and a chair frame that came un-glued.Being a 74 year old lady I didn't try the clamp on each project before gluing. Not a good idea. The corners became tangled and upside down while I worried that the glue would set before I got it clamped. Had I tried them first I would have realized that a piece of duck tape would have held them in place while I tightened the strap. Would have been a piece of cake with another person helping.

The only real weakness is that the little plastic toggles that pinch the straps are not fool proof and you will need to make sure the straps don't slip.

I deliver barley malt to many of the small craft breweries here in N. California. The often required a dust bag on the vent to their silo. My bag is 1 size fits many, but i need an easy to apply/remove clamp. This worked out great!

I bought a pair of this tool some weeks ago. I finally had the chance to use them for a project and they both broke. Seems they are made with poor quality material (plastic) because I just used them to hold tight while gluing this small wood structure and both clams cracked and snapped open.

The problem is that the latches holding the straps do not hold very well when turning the tightener and begin to slip. This won't allow for a tight joint.

Product fell apart on my second use. I repaired it and tried using it again and was unable to put adequate pressure to pull parts together. This is cheaply built and doesn't work is clamping wood parts together. Spend the extra money and get a better product.
