I had one of those cheap long reach installers already and grew frustrated as it would not work on half the engines I tried it on due the design of it. After looking around a while I found this kit that has the traditional style and the long reach type both in it.I was a bit worried when it arrived as the shipping box was damaged and I could see the tool case was partially open, thankfully it was not open enough to have let any parts come out and get lost in shipping. Unfortunately it did not arrive in time to use it on the job I needed it for so I have not had the opportunity to use it yet but I have looked it over and run the nuts down the length of the bolts to make sure there are no bad threads. It has a large bearing to help reduce friction and ease installation as well of a very thick washer that should hold up well for a long time. The spacer is a great addition to the set since many new balancer designs are of the deep dish type. In the past I have had to cobble together spacers from old nuts, washers, and whatever else I could find laying around to get the forcing nut far enough away from the inside of the balancer to be able to get my tools to it. I do like the fact that all of the nuts, bolts, and adapters are marked with their sizes so there is no confusion about what fits what, and each spot in the box is also marked for the size. All of the bolts and adapters snap tightly into their spots in the box too. Almost too tightly, but I'm sure they will get easier to remove with use. The only parts that do not positively stay in place are the bearing, spacer, washer and large forcing nut. Kinda wish they would lock in too but oh well. For the long reach type the forcing nuts have a shoulder on them that is designed to fit inside the washer and bearing so they can be held centered on the bolt. I don't know if this may cause the size markings to wear off since the markings are on the shoulder part of the nut, time will tell. It also fits the spacer but the shoulder is not long enough to go thru the bearing into the spacer, guess you'll have to eyeball that if you need to use the spacer with the long reach bolts but having the spacer slightly off would not be a bad as having the bearing off center so I guess it doesn't really matter too much.I also like the way the adapters for the traditional style installer have a jamb nut to help hold them tight into the main body instead of just relying on being bottomed out and hoping you have enough torque on it to hold it together upon removal. Over all the case is decently made and should last a long time as long as it is not abused. Not a fan of the peg type hinge but its better than the thin strip hinge that always cracks after a few years and has the lid fall off leading to a loss of contents. The closure part is a decent slide lock type too. While it will probably loosen up in the future leading to a case that may not stay positively closed, at least it's not the thin snap type that always break off in relatively short order. Over all I think this is a very well thought out set and should work on a majority of vehicles with years of dependable service as long as it is maintained with proper lubrication. Wish I had found this set years ago instead of buying the other sets I have.

Worked great to install the harmonic balancer on a 2.7L ecoboost. It’s the same kit you buy from Matco for $329. Apply anti seize to the threads of the tool and some 5w-30 to the crankshaft snout before installing and it glides right in.

I purchased this kit for use with the Chevy 6.2L diesel engine and it does the job with the correct adapter. The only issue is the bearing is not robust enough and started to deform while installing the first harmonic balancer with it. That said, it got the job done and still worked on the second one as well. This tool is good enough for occasional use but would not be good for a professional mechanic.

Faster and safer than using a block of wood. Just make sure you’re actually centered on the crank or you’ll damage threads. Comes in a nice case.

Used on a ford exploder for a timing chain job. Very useful. Lots of adapters and I feel like it will be a lot better then smacking a crank on with a mallet until like 4 threads of the crank bolt catch. Would recommend to any mechanic

Worked perfect for 3.5 ecoboost engine. It’s expensive but performed flawlessly.

great tool better than using a hammer to install a harmonic balancer and breaking a crankshaft

Lots of complaints in other comments about not being able to get adapters out well true but have a brain and make your own. Pack the bearing with grease and lube the threads on installer and guess what leads to long life and many uses. Quality wise well it’s lisle they make good stuff at affordable prices
