You need these. I don't know if there are aftermarket suppliers, maybe selling for a lower price. But these work well and I think the Litter Genie is the easiest way to deal with cleaning the box. Good to have spare refills on hand.

Litter Genie is really a great little system, it's easy to use and easy to open, eary to tear the bag for tie-off and emptying and pulling down a new section of bag for use. It is not perfect for me because my cat has a kidney problem that keeps him from contrating urine, so he produces "boulders" of litter that are really too big and I have to chop them in half to fit them in the Genie at times, and each bag section I pull down fills up in about 2 days for me. That being said, it still keeps me from having to go to the trash chute every day, so it's still helpful. I think if you had a regular cat with smaller amounts of output each section of bag would probably last you a week.

Very happy with this product!! I did not count how many 'bags' I got out of the cartridge, but it was at least 10-12 weeks worth of litter and small dog poop bags......initially I only used for the cat litter, but realized could be used for poop bag (again, it's a very small dog, so small droppings). The smell is contained, I tend to clean out litter box more often (daily now), and the convenience of only having to do the major cleanout every other week is well worth the price. Yes you can get the refills a little cheaper in stores, but then I'd probably be picking up a bunch of other items I could live without. No problems with knotting the ends, no problem with strength of bags either. Personally, I do rebag into used plastic bags just to be on safe side, as I have a long walk to garbage area.

Yeah, I could use plastic grocery bags...if I had them (I carry reusable totes for shopping and therefore don't get many plastic bags). This system is neat, clean, and really does keep the smell contained.

What special remark is there to say? These work as advertised. In conjunction with the bin, odor is eliminated. Changing the bag is not fun, but it isn't difficult. It seems a bit pricey for a long, thin plastic tube that you tie knots in, but if I'd been the one to invent the idea, I'd think it was a reasonable price. I don't care for the alternative products, and this one does the job, so it's the one I'll use.
