This water bottle works great! I sort of wish that the metal hanger was longer for taller tanks. At first the water bottle was leaking out in a day. I don't know what changed, but after a week, it stopped. I do not recommend putting "cold" water in the bottle.... because as the water heats up to room temperature.... the water molecules expand and will make the bottle leak. It's best to put room temp or a smidge warmer than room temp, so that the water bottle is less likely to leak. I was close to returning it, but it works fine now! I am very happy with this design as the mice are unable to chew the water bottle. Thank you kindly for an aquarium water bottle solution!! 😊✌️

I consulted my pet expert friend and they suggested that we purchase this bottle when we first began our journey into gerbil ownership. At the time, we were impatient and didn't want to wait the single day it would take for this to be delivered and decided that any old bottle from the pet store would work. Sure, those bottles did do the trick, but because we have an aquarium tank, attaching any old pet store bottle was more of a challenge than it should have been involving glue, velcro, and lots of tears. This bottle was our savior as it attached from the top of our tank allowing for us to hang it virtually anywhere on the inside. No more glue, no more velcro, and thankfully no more tears are had. It dispenses water at a reasonable rate as our critters drink from it and while I can’t tell if they’re happy by it, my fiance and I definitely are. It’s so good that we went ahead and purchased a second bottle because we wanted to make sure our critters were properly hydrated. Because this bottle is attached via a hook, I also believe it would make a great addition to any cage whether that is a bin cage, wire cage, or of course aquarium tank.

I liked that it doesn't drip at first BUT it dries up. The mouse can't get water unless I squeeze the bottle and hit the ball for a long time pretty hard. He moves the ball no problem so that's not it. It's the weirdest thing. So I'm returning it and getting a different one which upsets me because this is exactly what I wanted.

I had a lot of trouble with this when I first received it. It kept dripping uncontrollably, as others have warned it might. It turns out that it is just a problem with the seal that can be fixed without too much trouble. It was easier than all the instructions I'll post below, but you'll get the idea. When I reported the problem with the seller and asked for help, this was the response, which did fix the problem!"Try filling up a container of water that you can put into the water bottle. Use a glass or something to put the water in and let it stand at room temperature for at least an hour. The water that comes out of your faucet is at a different temperature than the room, we need to get the water as close to room temperature as possible. After you have done that, check the lid on the bottle. Unscrew the lid and make sure the black rubber seal is inside the lid and securely in place. If it is not securely in place, then put it in place to help ensure a seal. Now run your finger around the edge of the bottle opening. There should be no bumps or imperfections on the edge around the opening. This is where the rubber seal from the lid will make contact. If there are any bumps or imperfections you might be able to file them down using an emery board that you use to file finger nails. Once you have checked all of that and the water has adjusted to room temperature, fill the bottle with the water and seal it closed. Try installing the bottle in the cage. It will drip at first until a seal is formed within the tube. If it continues to drip, you can try “priming” the tube by touching the bottle of it a few times with your finger to allow water to drip out. Sometimes this will help “prime” the seal. The water at room temperature is very important."

Fits in my gerbils' tank much better than the longer-spouted ones. The short tube is less likely to touch the bedding and drain out when my idiot gerbils push their bedding up against it. And the hook works well with my 20 gallon glass aquarium.

the rat hasn't torn it up yet, and the threading is right, so there's no leaking. the clip that connects it to the cage is a little awkward, but does the job right. worked with a mesh aquarium lid and a rodent enclosure roof. my rat doesn't drink that much water, so there is water in the bottle for an average of 3-5 days. ultimately a good purchase!

I ordered 2 of these as I'm breeding mice for my reptiles and after opening one and filling it (I didn't even think to check the seal) I put it in the tank and it leaked all over the inside of their tank - when I took it out to inspect it I noticed the lid was missing the seal completely - since I bought 2 and wasn't using the second quite yet I was able to just swap the lods as the other did have the seal but it doesn't change the fact that I have 1 that's basically useless. Unless of course if I want a soaked tank & bedding for my mice. Other than that the rest of it (bottle and wire) are perfect fine and I would recommend - just make sure that yours comes with the seal!

Lixit is the best brand when it comes to pet water bottles, and nothing can beat the bell style for aquariums/larger bin cages! I've been using these for literally 20 years and have never had a bottle that leaked or stopped up, and have had VERY few (out of 150+) that were chewed beyond a few superficial scuffs. I use them with rats, mice, hamsters, gerbils, ASF, and other rodents.

Just a pity that this particular Luxury product doesn't seem to be imported to the UK so shipping cost from the US makes it expensive. But thought it worth paying the extra, have now had 3 of these. Just make sure the sharp toothed little rascals can't reach and chew the tab on top it hangs by!
