This hay rack is meant to be hanged outside of the cage so your pet can nibble on the hay through cage wires. I had one just like that and it came with the hutch I bought in the pet store. Once it got broken (after 5 years of use) I could not find anything similar until now. It is one of the best I've ever had so far. Most of the hay racks hold very little hay, are hard to refill and they take up the space inside the cage. I keep the hutch on my patio so it doesn't bother me when some hay occasionally falls on the ground, but I if you have your pet indoors... well just buy one of those small vacuum cleaners.

This hay rack works. I've tried (1) hay in a bowl, (2) wooden hay rack inside the cage, and (3) just piling some hay in the corner. The problem with the first and third method was my bunny likes to toss his food underneath him, dig, and do its business in its food. I've had to clean the entire cage because of this daily. The second attempt was a wooden rack I bought from petco, it was small, hard to get hay inside it, and the wooden planks were too narrow for my bunny to get food out. He'd get so frustrated that he'd naw and scratch at the wood leaving grooves. I couldn't let that continue. This rack hangs on the outside of the cage, so my bunny cannot naw on it, so the fact that its plastic is ... okay with me.It attached to the back of the cage via two tiny built in hooks and not those screws that you need a certain type of cage for. The metal spacing of my cage is the perfect size for pulling out hay. HAY Only! Don't mix pellets, they'd only fall out.The only complaint I have is that it's not sturdy if it hangs off the side without anything else holding it in place. If you have a bunny or rabbit like mine, they might pull too hard and hay will end up outside the cage, because of the recoil. Someone says a quick fix is to tape it down, but I've placed mine against a wall, so hopefully this won't be a problem.I'll be posting a 11 second video of my bunny eating easily from it.

I bought this and it totally does its job. You can’t put very much in it, so expect to refill it multiple times a week , if not multiple times a day. Ultimately, though, its design is decent and probably will work for others better than it did me.

Quality plastic that doesn't bend easily. Fits well with my Amazon Basics rabbit/guinea pig cage. The downside is, the holder isn't very tall compared to my other ones. So, it holds less hay.Honestly, this item is more of a $6 value (not the $7.89 price) only because of its size. However, I would buy again due to the fact that I could only find TWO of these outside hay feeders on Amazon. The other seller had a cheap looking one with few reviews which were all negative.

I got this for my guinea pigs to keep their hay off the floor in their cage. When I put the hay on the floor in their cage, they quickly trampled it and most of it was wasted. Also, one of my pets had to be treated for an eye injury after getting a sharp piece of hay in her eye. My vet suggested a hay rack and I chose this inexpensive one. With this product, they can pull only a few pieces of hay from the rack at a time as they eat, so the hay stays off the floor. I was initially worried that the pigs wouldn't be able to get the hay through the bars of the cage, since this rack mounts from the outside; but they had no trouble and figured it out right away. It is big enough to hold all their hay for a whole day and wide enough for the two of them to eat at the same time. You can't see how the hay rack mounts in the picture, but it is very simple. There are plastic hooks on either side that latch onto the horizontal bars in the cage (no additional hardware - one piece design). It was easy to mount and fits securely to the cage. I have a homemade cage ("cubes and chloroplast" design), but it looks like it would fit any kind of commercial wire-top cage just as well, since it just hooks onto the horizontal bars on the cage.As the other reviewer commented, a bit of hay does fall out of the rack and onto the floor. I sweep around the guinea pigs' cage daily to keep the area clean. But they throw litter out of their cage anyways as they run around, so a few extra pieces of hay on the ground doesn't bother me.

This is truly a waste of money. I did finally fix it by putting zip ties on the wire and through the hook hole to keep it hanging. Rabbits like to play with things that are in their cages and pulled it down right away. I could not tell if it had a back on it from the photo on the ad and it didn't.This is a crazy way to make it fit on wire cage. The Back is completely open and the hay falls though the wre to the floor. NO way to keep hay in manger. Well I cut a piece of cardboard and placed it at the back of the manger and that works ok. It could be a bit larger.

These hay racks are terrific because they sit on the outside of the cage. Suggestions to tuck the bottom lip into the space between the plastic lip and the wire is smart. Yes, we get some hay falling on the ground, but the piggles also kick up plenty of bedding, so we are sweeping or vacuuming up after them daily. These hold a good amount of hay as well. Started with one, shortly after bought another 2. Very good value.I noticed that a couple of reviews on the smart looking hay/pellet combo feeders commented on safety hazards. I can honestly say I wondered if our active pigs would climb into the feeder, and those reviews clinched it for me. That was why I chose this external hay feeder. Of course those issues are a rarity, but it was good to be aware and able to make the choice for my animals.

lots less mess by having the hay up off the floor, and so much safer then the racks you place in the cage. I have had active rabbits get caught up on the wire hay racks for inside the cage, will never use those again. This holds plenty of hay to last at least a few days, and since it is outside the cage, it is easy to fill.

Doesn't keep the hay in. It ends up all over my floor
