I recently purchased a 9.5" wok to go with a new counter-top induction burner. I have a 13" splatter screen, but it was just too large to use with my new smaller pan.Saw this 11" Lodge and decided to give it a try. It's just the right size, seems well made, and it goes in the dishwasher. Most important, it does a good job keeping the splatter in check when I make stir fry for lunch.Would definitely recommend this to others looking for a smaller splatter screen.

I want a Splatter Screen to have 2 properties.First, when I fry, I want it to contain the oil to the frying pan rather than having said oil deposited on all the horizontal surfaces in my kitchen. The mesh must be fine enough to capture the oil droplets that would otherwise escape from the pan, but not so fine that it partially seals the pan (otherwise, I could just use a lid). In this respect, I find the Lodge Screen an excellent performer. After I finish frying an egg or some bacon, I see only a few tiny oil droplets on my ceramic cooktop - and those could have gotten out when I lifted the screen to adjust or turn what was cooking. The handle remains cool to the touch throughout the cooking process - no oven glove or hotpad required.Secondly, the screen must be easy to clean. To me, that means it must go into the dishwasher after it has been used and emerge clean after washing. This, of course, implies that it must be dishwasher safe. I use my Lodge Screen 2 or 3 times per week and have had it for 5 months, so it has gone through my dishwasher approximately 50 times - perfectly cleaned each time. It shows no signs of any type of rust or corrosion. There is one spot where the rim and adjacent mesh have discolored, but it doesn't appear to be corrosion. I think it may be heat related. If Amazon offered half-star ratings, I'd deduct a half star for this imperfection, but I don't think it's serious enough for a whole star penalty. Also implied in the "easy to clean" is that it will fit into the dishwasher in the first place. This is primarily why I chose an 11-inch screen even though a larger one might be a bit more useful. It can be placed in the dishwasher rack on its edge like a large dinner plate. A bigger one just wouldn't fit. I'd have to lay it down and it would then occupy most of the shelf.A Splatter Screen is such a mundane kitchen item that we notice it only when it fails to perform its job. That won't be a problem here.

I bought this for my larger pans. It hasn't failed, but isn't nearly as sturdily built as the smaller one I have. Time will tell...

Works extremely well. I used it while deep frying with my cast iron skillet. Protected my stove top and my hand from grease splatter. The handle stayed cool, I was about to pick it up when needed with bare hands. I have a similar product from pampered chef but I find this one to be much easier to use compared to that one.

The good:Sturdy well made screen. Keeps the grease and butter from popping back at me.The bad:The handle welding is questionable for how long it is going to last.

I got the large version because we also have a large cast iron that is bigger than normal, but something I didn't consider was the handle on the large pan is bent up. Makes for an awkward fit, but works great for the standard lodge cast iron pans we have. Easy to store and clean.

I was looking for a stainless steel splatter screen. Came across this piece, read some reviews on this and other similar items. Read that Lodge is a small company that makes high quality products here in the U.S. Though it can be quite a challenge, I try to buy American made products whenever I am able to find them.Usually more expensive, however I feel more confident in the products. I do not have the same concerns about lead paints and inferior metal/materials, as I do when items come from China. I know U.S. regulations are not perfect, however I have virtually no confidence in products made as inexpensively as possible. I am a firm believer that you almost always get what you pay for. Whether Chinese/foreign companies cut costs on materials, labor or ignoring safety precautions/regulations, they are cutting corners somewhere. I know some think, "Hey, if they will make it cheaper, I pay less". I believe that when someone is fairly compensated for labor, a better crafted longer lasting item is the result. Also, I do not like to reward companies who "Ship jobs overseas" to save a dollar or two. I did not mean to jump on a soapbox there, but it leads to my review.I was very pleased that I was able to find what I thought was an American made product. When deciding on which splatter screen to purchase, I did not hesitate to pay more for this one because I thought it was made in America. I even looked at the other products Lodge offered on Amazon, in hopes that I needed something else the offer. So, product arrives and I open it up to check the craftsmanship. I notice a little discoloration near the handle and inspect closer. I could not tell if the metal was tarnished or if a thin plastic had melted on this area. As I am looking at it, I notice the tag, 'Made in China'. I was so disappointed. I know it is only a $14 splatter screen, but I was really disappointed. I spent several hundred dollars on my wife for Christmas and this was one small part of a stainless steel deep frying set I pieced together on Amazon. However, with all of the things I got her, I was most proud of having found this American made item. I know I am being dramatic, but I was excited about this little piece. I am not some wierdo who lost sleep over this, just found it cool that I had found what I wanted and I was supporting a company that does things how I try to do things in my companies. If you try and buy non China products like I do, you know how difficult it can be. Avoid this product, as it is most definitely made in China. Just to be clear, Lodge did not promote this item as made in America. I gathered that from other reviewers of other Lodge products.

Sadly, my Lodge skillet has curved handles on each side. This screen was unable to ‘rest’ on the surface of the pan. My son loves it for his larger skillet.

I found it to be quite sturdy and of good construction.Note that the handle does not fold back like some others.
