The intake manifold gasket is there to protect the intake manifold. It’s there to make sure that air is distributed evenly to all the cylinders in the vehicle, which is needed during the ignition process. It also has another function, which is to keep the engine cool. It’s through the manifold that coolant is distributed. So essentially, the intake manifold gasket is a key component when it comes to ensuring that a vehicle has enough fluid and air in the engine. The gasket is there to provide a seal, preventing air or fluid from escaping.
Symptoms of bad intake manifold gasket
- Coolant leaking from vehicle
- Engine overheating
- Green, red or yellow leaks under the car
- Check engine light comes on
- Engine starts to run rough
How to replace intake manifold gasket set
1. switch off the engine and let it cool.
2. remove the negative battery terminal.
3. Place the car on jack stands, Drain the battery.
4. Inspect the intake manifold, take off the serpentine belt.
5. Remove the intake manifold bolts.
6. Take off the lower base of the intake manifold.
7. Clean the intake manifold and prevent any debris from falling in there.
8. Add the sealant, put the new intake manifold gasket to fit tightly before sealing it in place.
9. Add the sealant, reattach all the wires and hoses that you took off earlier.
10. Switch on the engine to check your new manifold gasket.

Gasket was not usable on 2017 3.6L Equinox even though seller indicated it was correct. Port sizes are incorrect and do not line up well. My return window closed by 10 days since I did not get around to removing the manifold until today. Waste of money.
