Function
The oil pan alignment tool mimics the oil pan thus providing critical alignment of the oil pan and front cover.
Front Timing Cover Alignment Tool & Seal Installer
Function
- Machined from Billet aluminum. Very tight tolerances for a perfect alignment.
- Used to install the front cover on any GM LS engine.
- And could be used to install the front main seal.
Installation of front cover: (no seal installed)
- Loosely install the front cover.
- Install the seal tool over the snout of the crankshaft using the large end.
- Check the alignment to the oil pan.
- Tighten the front cover bolts to specifications.
- Install the balancer lip seal.

There is no plate to flush up the rear cover like there is for the front. Not sure I have seen one offered in an after market tool though. Still don't know why GM didn't just put locating dowel pins in to align the covers. This will definitely center the front and rear seals, but as you know, it's more about trying to keep them centered and adjusting the plate so as not to hang over the edge or to be to high or low on one side. Probably could do the job without these tools but it did simplify centering the seals on the crank shaft. Materiel did seem to be pretty nice and was finished well.

Yes, it is I was surprised on how this tool works, take a lot of Headache when a front cover on Gm engines would recommend for tech at gm or if you own will come in handy.💯ðŸ‘

Works good on front seal and aligning oil pan but falls short on installation of rear seal.

This did not slip in to center the timing cover it was only used to apply the new gasket. I think I will return since it did not do the job
