This backpack seemed great until we realized that it only holds a very short water bottle due to the pocket being slanted. My son took it to school daily, so it did get used a lot, however the stitching that held the padded part in place got a hole in it after a few months. It has a great number of pockets and is extremely functional, but get ready for your water bottle to constantly fall out. We tried to make it work with a shorter one, but then the pocket ripped. So maybe just don't use the side pockets for a water bottle is the take home message here, and you will probably really like the backpack.
