Great little gasket to replace the seal on my AMC20 differential. Doesn't leak at all and fits like a glove. Used it on my 1978 CJ5

I had a leak on the diff cover of the AMC20 under my CJ8. I tried using a LubLocker with a new diff cover just to ensure success. I had the mating surface perfectly clean, chased the cover mount holes and followed the tightening pattern for the gasket. It leaked worse than before! Thinking maybe I did something wrong, pulled it off, recleaned everything and reinstalled per instructions. Still leaked! I am now going to install the $5 gasket that will probably work where the LubeLocker did not. I am thinking it is just not a good design for the AMC20 differential as the AMC20 hase a step down just inside the cover bolt holes where a standard gasket goes. The lubelocker is made to seal on a flat surface, the design leaves just a wee bit of gasket between the bolt hole and the lip and I strongly suspect the gasket moved just enough there was not a seal at the bolts. The leaks both times were coming from the lower most 3 bolts II have another lubelocker for the front Dana 30 differential, hopefully it works as intended.

This gasket went on a 1979 Jeep CJ5. You must take your time and install this gasket properly in order for a AMC 20 differential not to leak. All surfaces must be surgically clean and smooth which means removing 40+ years of crude and corrosion. Original style cork gasket needs to be used with the lubelocker which I used a light tack adhesive to hold the cork in place. Torque bolts to 10ft lbs and then 20 ft lbs following lubelockers sequence. Absolutely no leaks or seepage. Can fill immediately and no RTV needed!

Once I finally got the right one it fit perfectly. I'm not sure which seller it was but I received the wrong one the first time. I haven't tried to remove and replace it to see if it works for multiple uses but so far so good.

I had an annoying small leaks, 2 or 3 drops that would appear after driving the Jeep and the differential fluid was warm. I had heard good things about the LubeLocker products, so I purchased one for the next fluid change. It arrived in good condition as expected.I drained the fluid and prepared the differential as I would normally. As I was installing the LubeLocker I was concerned about the limited surface coverage of the gasket, but installed it anyway. I filled the differential with fluid and checked for leaks only to find a steady stream of fluid flowing from a spot near one of the bolts. I checked my torque specs & bolt torque but still the steady flow of fluid continued. I replaced the $22 LubeLocker with a $3 cork gasket, refilled with fluid, and NO leaks.I can not recommend this product for use with an AMC20 due the poor design.
