I have been a percussion player for fifty-nine years, and I am a very active player. Throughout the years, I have played many Ludwig Black Beauty Snare Drums and love the make. This drum is very well made; it sounds great at all dynamic levels of playing. The stock batter and resonating heads (WeatherMaster) sound great. The rubber gaskets used on the tension screws make tuning this drum very easy. I like the snare strainer very much. It is solidly constructed and very easy to set the snare tension to fit your musical needs. In closing, this drum is very beautiful looking. Ludwig has paid attention to the smallest of details on this musical instrument. I highly recommend this item; it is wonderful to play. I've gotten a great sound, from it, with minimal effort.

I absolutely love this drum! I wish I had bought one of these when I was young. I record with it and take to live gigs. It fits well in just about any scenario and music type. Easy to tune up or down and cuts through just about any mix. It's extremely high quality and made in the USA!

Beautiful looking drum. Had some issues trying to get it to tune well at first. Took it apart and the rims were not even remotely flat. Put new rims on it and it tuned up much easier and sounded better. Somewhat concerning that such a high quality drum would come with bent rims though.

It seems weird to review a BB on Amazon, but I’d just note this drum is absolutely gorgeous. Shipping from the seller was quick and packaged great, and I’m simply in love with this stunning drum.

All other snares of mine are meaningless after playing this one.. Super responsive even while playing at low volumes. The gold plated hardware gives it stage appeal and durability. This is more than a snare, it's an Heirloom.

Best snare drum I have ever played.Wish I could of bought this earlier in my life.The tuning range on this snare is amazing. It's worth the money.Not to mention how great the communication is with the seller ( Chicago Music Exchange).Def buy this snare.
