These are a good option for mounting circular recessed lights onto a ceiling with distant anchor points. These brackets are surprisingly light weight, and easy to put into place. Their lightweight nature is also one of their downsides, because their thin construction makes them flimsy and easy to bend. A couple of these arrived slightly deformed because they had knocked each other around, interlocked sliding arms, and twisted each other's arms when they were carelessly tossed in a bigger than necessary box and shipped without any sort of protective foam or any means to restrain them. The hole punches for the different sizes are a neat and welcome feature, as this allows you to decide what size diameter light you would like to use these for, without having to buy a different bracket each time. However, removing the hole punched segments was a bit difficult to do by hand, and I had to resort to using pliers to bend and break the inner segments out to get to the desired circumference. This makes sense though, because since it's hole punched throughout, you don't want your light to fall right out of the ceiling due to a weak base. Pretty decent mounting brackets, I wouldn't mind buying more of these for future lighting work, but I'd prefer something with a little bit more firmness on the extendo-arms so they don't bend out of shape as easily.

Passed all these off to our GC for the installation...Didn't get complaints from the electricians and they worked and passed inspection without causing a light to droop...Price is good, seems very similar to HD and Lowes as far as material and quality...was about the same price as the options our GC provided.

Vine review, so keep that in mind. These match up well with other similar items I've purchased and ordered over the years. I think quality is on par with what you find at the big-box stores. The odd thing is, price doesn't really beat the big box. That's what contributes to my rating. The value component here doesn't provide any compelling reason to skip the trip to your local store.I'll update as needed.

We got these to install lighting in our basement and they just didn't work. The size was completely off. Our house was built in the 50's so maybe that's the problem? They were wayy too small to fit properly in between the rafters.

These are very light metal for the modern LED flat "can" lights. They install quickly and easily, thanks to the built-in mounting nails. They are really thin metal that bends easily and is a little floppy until the ceiling drywall is in, so will require some care in handling before mounting in the joists. Thankfully the mounting legs slide easily for positioning, and you don't have to fight with them and cut yourself on the sharp edges in the process. The mounting cutouts are sized for several sizes of lights, but not 6" diameter, which are very common. Why not just make one size that includes the 6" size? Anyway, get these if you are doing some new construction work, but wear gloves when installing.Poorly packed. Just thrown loosely into a box that's way too large. Resulted in some bent mounting legs.
