I got turned on to wearing hoodies for hikes and backpacking trips during a river trip on the Grand Canyon several years ago, when many of the guides were wearing them for sun protection.Even in the summer, I prefer to run and hike in long sleeves because I'm just done with continued damage to my skin. Hoodies are great for protecting the sides of your face and neck from the sun, which are easily forgotten when applying sunscreen. And, you can still wear a baseball-type hat with them, which is what I do.Honestly, I wish these had been around when I was backpacking back in my 30's (25 years ago) and wearing tank tops, shorts and relying on sunscreen...which, quite frankly, doesn't protect adequately against sun damage.Lightweight, breathable clothing is much better. I love the fabric of this shirt - it's a textured knit weave that I can tell will breathe better than most of my existing hoodies, which are are a thin knit spandex type material. The fabric does not feel cheap like some really poor quality MiC clothing does.I ordered a size M, which fits true to size. It's not tight or too loose, and the length is good and butt-covering if you wear it with leggings. It could also be front-tucked into whatever type bottoms you're wearing and not be too bulky. The sleeves fit me perfectly, even with the thumbholes.If you wanted a more form-fitting top for running or cycling, going down a size would probably be perfect. I may order another in a size S just for that purpose.I ordered the purple-grey color, and it's beautiful! It looks pretty much identical to the color shown for the product photo. I prefer pullover stretch hoodies to button-up shirts for pretty much any outdoor activity because they're more comfortable and offer more sun protection...so, I may replace my remaining button-up hiking shirts with these.

I wouldn't wear this hiking/running or anything strenuous in anything over 70 degrees. It's perfect for a cool morning with a vest or under a sweater/fleece in fall/winter. I was looking for full coverage with sun protection To Walk Out In the Blazing SUN. This is still a nice shirt and I'll keep it. It's not too shiny like some of these can be yet still silky/heavy enough to not bunch up un unflattering places like cotton. It's clingy so I ordered a Large 5'2,160, 34DD, and still have a bit of back fat but not enough to be mad. I think the color is beautiful, sleeve length is perfect for my short frame, and the hoodie is just right. This hoodie will come in handy during a dust storm in the desert and a cool camping morning making coffee while covering my messy camp bed head hair. But I won't be using it as shade cover in the 98 degree temps expected on my trip to the Escalante desert this summer, which was it's intended purpose.

I bought this to wear white water rafting due to the fact I have a history of melanoma. I ordered 2 sizes too big just for the extra comfort and I wanted it to not be clingy. I would normally be a L, but I bought the 2XL. The shirt provided great sun protection, the sleeves were plenty long, the hood covered my whole head with a bit of overhang (probably due to the extra sizing) but with the helmet I was wearing, I didn’t even use the hood. It easily dried out of the water and the material seemed to be a good quality. When wearing in a hot, humid environment, the shirt was pretty warm even due to the lighter fabric. I wasn’t concerned because I knew I would eventually be getting wet, but just wearing it out in the sun all day, and not having that coolness of the water, I’m not sure how long I could keep it on. I have washed mine in cold water, no fabric softener and hung to dry. No issues at all. Overall great shirt, would definitely buy them again. I would suggest getting one size bigger than normal if you want it to fit comfortably with no clinging, but 2 sizes if you want it to be longer to wear with leggings and to hang.

It fits. It doesn't hold heat. It dries Very quickly. I don't even put them in the drier.I like the hood and the thumb holes.

This hoodie fits well, is functional and looks nice. The quality is poor. The stitching on the hem is coming out before the first wash.

Very comfortable. Loose fit with thumb holes. Breathable. Doesn’t cling. When I wear it, I have gotten many compliments and people asking where they can find it. Have ordered many similar tops that were disappointing. This is a keeper.

I do field work in the summer and these are great for keeping me alive. I appreciate the neckline, hood and thumb holes.You don’t feel laden down by sweat and if there’s a bit of rain, you get drier faster, and into the cooler evening, you’re not shivering. You can wear them for long days.The material is a little bit thicker than I wanted but it’s worth it for the price. It keeps me from burning up in the sun and wicks excess moisture away from the body.I got it for both function and aesthetics as the logo is so muted and I don’t appreciate when logos on athletic or athleisure wear you wear for field work and then transition back into the office shout at the people around you. I appreciated athletic wear for work to be more muted.It fits well and I even wore it for my birthday bar-b-que! (If it passed that test, it can pass any.). It photographs well and looks more polished than many athletic or athleisure wear I’ve seen or used.
