This solenoid works like it is supposed to. It is smaller than I expected, which is good, but also doesn't push as hard as I expected when I use 12V on it. I haven't finished the project I'm using it on, but I think it will do what I need it to. No regrets.

I am using it for a guide control to make my device go left or right. I needed something that did not require a lot of power and fast reacting as I am using a bang bang control system.

Only uses .6 something amps. The slightest pressure, even not from the opposing direction but rather downward, completely nullifies this piece of garbage.

It does work - however, it's most disapppointingly weak, except right at the very end of the stroke. In hindsight, this is unsurprising, but for some reason I expected more. I guess it can indeed HOLD against 5 N when fully engaged, but don't expect to MOVE anything 10 millimeters that takes more force than the fart of a butterfly. It draws about 0.85A from 12V DC, but it gets VERY hot, very quickly. I wouldn't want to energize it for more than a few seconds at a time. It would be OK for my use, but not the force. By the way, I wanted to activate a pushbutton with it.Yes, I could return it, but it doesn't worth the hassle. Maybe some day I'll find a use for it.

This product is mislabeled:At time of purchase/review it is labeled as a 12/1A solenoid. Why the coil resistance is 13.5ohms and therefore it is roughly 1 amp its only rated at 300ma or roughly 4v 12 Volts will fry this. Even at 50-60 duty cycle it exceeds 60deg C in seconds. Also it’s incredibly weak.
