Works as intended and effective at finding vacuum leaks. I used baby oil as the smoke fluid. The compressor will turn on as soon as you power it on, but smoke starts when you turn the switch on.

Previously I had bought a cheap smoke detector, one of those that looks like an aluminum can. Well it wasn’t a good buy, especially because you also need to set up an air compressor to use it. Worst of all I could never find the Evan leak with it. So I decided to buy a better smoke machine, especially one with a built in air pump. So I bought this and it worked perfectly. The built in pump made it easy to use, and the hook allowed me to attach it to the hood so it was out of the way. First time using it I was able to find the evap leak, which was easy to spot right under the hood. I definitely recommend buying this smoke machine.

[1st timer user] Haven't used it yet, it was packed very good, all parts are there with instructions. I'm real impressed so far at the packing it looks impressive. I'll update my review after use it to detect vacuum leaks . The machine is impressive with the quality, it works as advertised but being new to this type of leak detection i hadn't considered the very bad odor still in shop, I must return and buy another machine with a variety of rubber connections to fit with the testing operations. With only 2 wasn't able to seal hookup.

Excellent price for what u get. Used it to find an exhaust leak on my 2005 Canyon.
