I used this as a 2nd repair on the drain plug of a bmw oil pan after a coil style repair kept leaking. The repair was pretty quick and painless. I recommend dipping the bits in grease before to help catch all the shavings and using red loctite on the insert.

I used it for a drain plug repair on a 2009 Yamaha ttr125. The kit was straightforward and easy to use. I did have several issues though. The first is the counterbore tool allows you to make too deep of a counterbore. On the time sert kits the tool makes the exact size you need you just keep going until it can’t go any further. This one is not like that and I ended up going a bit too far on this one so the insert is a bit recessed instead of flush. Second the inserts themselves don’t have any locking mechanisms to keep it secure like a time sert does. I used red locktight and even with the red locktight it backed out one of the times I tried to thread it on. After the first attempt I also discovered the install tool was too long for the hole so I ended up putting one insert on the tool backwards with the other insert on forwards so I could get the insert to fully seat into the hole I drilled and tapped. The second insert got jammed on and I got it off eventually but damaged the threading on the tool so now the kit is useless. Save yourself the hassle and get an actual time sert kit. They are more expensive but the expense is worth it for the proper repair. I just finished the install and I’m waiting for the locktight to cure to see if it’s actually going to hold. I’ll update with if it holds oil or leaks.

Overall this kit worked perfectly. I did mess up a hole but it was user error with the tap as I think I cross threaded my hole I made again lol. First bolt held up to the 50ft pounds I was requesting of it. Just wish it had an option to add a handle as I couldn’t find anything that fit it. This kit sits flush and between this and the cheaper heli coil I feel as it would be stronger at clamping.
