I'm a beginner, so I'm sure I have a lot to learn about properly tuning my snare drum to reduce the ringing. But this product does a great job of stopping the ringing without unduly dampening the crisp snare drum sound. Very easy to put on the drum, and the leather strip can be folded and held in place by tiny magnets to reduce the surface area that touches the drum batter head (and thus reduces the amount of dampening).Highly recommend it!

Great product, just wish I bought the bigger one.

The Snareweight does a great job of trimming a bit of excess ring from a drum without killing the tone or head feel. It gives focus, a small bit of compression, to the sound. The rim-clip attachment is convenient and the slim, flat size keeps it from obstructing your playing. The only knock on the product is that the clip will only work on metal rims. If you have a wood-hoop drum, the clip is not going to work. The first SW that arrived had a loose rivet, and the magnet quickly pulled out. I contacted the company, and they immediately sent me a replacement SW. Great customer service.

As a professional Musical Theatre drummer, I need to have my snares sounding specific ways in different venues/pits. This damper’s 4 settings allow me to “open up†the snare for brush work or a more natural sound, or dampen in by 3 levels to achieve the sound I want. I use it on Copper, Maple, Mohagany and steel snares. It truly lets the drum’s tone shine in any environment - with or without mics. I even have these on my Orchestral snares!

This thing rules. Screw Moon Gels, they are made of smurfs and they collect hair, they lose their stickiness and generally take up the wrong kind of space and tone. The Snareweight is tonally adjustable, super clean, and keeps the overtones from getting too squashed. I use them in the studio all the time, flipping half up or whatever, as needed. Intuitive and well made.

I've had this thing on my snare for a good while now and while it does work, it's too stiff to naturally lay flat after adjusting with the magnets, even after physically trying to break the leather in. Once you drop it back down, you'll need to flatten it out again by hand for it to make full contact.

The type of muffling provided by this product is as good or better than Moon Gels (etc.) because it can leave and then settle back down to the head (if this is the sound you're going for), and it can be put on and off without ruining the product (like a gel), but it is quite pricey for what it is. My last producer/engineer really liked the sound through the mics, and it was handy to have in a session because I could flip it up and down to dial in the sound on a given track.

..and it works...to my ears anyway. Would recommend but of course you can't beat the wallet or ciggy packet..

By far the best drum muting I've ever used. It takes off any ring (my drums are tuned very open) but doesn't affect the fundamental sound of the drum itself.

I use moon gels. I wanted to try this product, and would recommend it. I think both moon gels, and the snareweight are great products. I felt the snareweight had an edge over the moon gels, but nothing groundbreaking. If you have some spare cash, give these guys a try.
