This solar-powered fountain works great in my pedestal bird bath -- it does need direct sunlight to function well. When the sun rays are coming at an angle, the motor will work intermittently. With direct rays, the fountain sprays quite high (greater than 12 inches). To decrease the power of the spray, I put a very small rock on one panel section and it worked perfectly to bring the water spray down to 3 or 4 inches. Just enough to attract the attention of birds, but not enough to cause water to splash out of the bird bath.Update Feb 5, 2025 -- my solar fountain stopped working today.Tip: Clean out your bird bath every evening, give the fountain pump a rinse and allow to air dry (solar panel side down) and refill bird bath with fresh water in the morning. This will prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs in the water, plus keeping the water fresh and clean prevents the pump motor from clogging up.I have had my fountain pump over 2 months now and it is still working just fine.

It is a great little fountain and would be great if it was always directly in bright sunlight. But it doesn’t store any power up when the sun moves off of it or it’s a cloudy day. It is t like solar lights that stay on long after the sun is gone. It has lots of different spout nozzles to use and all are enjoyable. The only problem being finding a bird bath large enough to catch the spray so you lose the water very quickly. It would b wonderful floating around a pool or large pond.

I bought this 10 months ago. It worked ok enough for one season. It was put away during the fall and winter and brought back out this spring, after which point it lasted about one month before the motor just stopped working altogether. So, I guess it was functional for a total of about 5 months. Ultimately, it's cheaply made and isn't going to last and you shouldn't buy it. It would really be better to just put your money directly in the landfill because that would at least biodegrade in less than a million years.- the little arms are not meaningfully affixed to anything. They're just pressed into the foam that keeps the device afloat. Birds will rip them off and carry them away.- The filter is situated directly against the solar capacitor, and will get clogged almost instantly.- The functionality is brutally reliant on absolutely direct and perfectly unobstructed sunlight to work. Forget cloudy days, this thing will turn off if half of it is covered by the shadow of a bird. That's just a limitation of feeding power directly from a solar panel to a pump, but don't be surprised when it doesn't function the way you're imagining it will.Don't buy this. Someone, somewhere, is making one of these that is intended to be repaired and have a long service life, but this is literally disposable. Again, don't buy this.It gets one star because under the most ideal conditions (perfectly clean water, no birds, and within the first few months of it's operation), it did shoot water into the air in a pleasing way.

Easy to assemble, and it works well once you get it set up. The fountain comes with six different nozzles, but I had to experiment a bit to find the right one, as some of the nozzles tend to overspray. Once I found the right fit, it worked perfectly and provided a nice, gentle stream of water. My birds loved it! It’s a nice addition to my bird bath, and it adds a bit of life to the yard. The solar power works well when the sun is shining, though it does need consistent sunlight to operate at full capacity. Overall, it's a simple and effective product for keeping birds happy, but make sure to try the nozzles to avoid too much splashing.

This is perfect for what I was hoping to have on my deck. The stabilizers really help and keeps it from just spitting all the water out. Bit picky, needs constant direct sun. Will not work with even a small amount of shadow. Just hope the birds will accept it. We'll worth the price.
