I read some reviews that said the magnet was not very strong. I attached this to a filing cabinet (0.030" metal thickness) and could easily pull it off. I attached it to a 1/8" thick plate and could not pull it off. Magnet ratings are for straight pull off. A magnet can always be "peeled off" with lesser force. I bought this to add to a articulating arm desk lamp for a work bench. The bench top is 3/8" thick steel. It held very well. Even with the maximum cantilevered load shown in the photos it held the lamp quite well. I am glad I didn't pay attention to the reviews that said it was not strong.

Seems to be a nice product. Time will tell. On/off switch seems cheap, we'll see how long it last. Not bad thou for price.

This switch is a good value for money and does the job I need it to. There are more expensive options out there, but they don't seem to be much better. These are great for a lot of things, including holding awkwardly shaped tools and knives for sharpening and grinding operations, and holding measuring equipment down on surfaces like drill press tables. They are also good for cleaning up metal filings -- just pick them up with the magnet, hold the magnet over a trash can, and turn the magnet off.

This doesn’t have the holding power of nearly what they claim! I tried it on 1 inch plate because they claim it requires 3 cm of substrate to reach it holding power. BS. I could still pull it off by hand and I promise you I cannot lift 200 pounds with my hand. I am tired of these companies false claims that just leads to inconvenience and further expense to label box and return. I live in the country. It’s not like I just walk next door.

The magnet works as expected however the threads are cut very rough making bolts difficult to start without stripping.

Solid and effective. I mostly use it as a stop block on cast iron machines. Very handy

Works, but magnet pull is very weak. Barely 5 pounds of holding power on 1/2" A36 vertical plate with 12 mil coating on the vertical and horizontal plane.Still testing on 3/16" to 1/4" horizonal plates to see if it's any better than the vertical plate.Haven't decided if I'll return yet or not as it's better than the Domino sized ceramic magnets.

Had bought some Magswitches for use on my table saw, but they are very expensive, so after seeing a YouTube video on making cheaper equivalents, bought some of these magnets, which turned out to be a great money-saver. These are bulky compared with the Magswitches, but that doesn't matter for my projects.

It does what it should. It is solid, and the switch works. I'm happy.

These magnetic switches are plenty strong enough to hold a fence down for woodworking. I was so impressed I purchased a second one. Another company makes similar ones but want 4x the cost. Definitely happy I went with these instead.
