I was struggling to get this tool to work because I was pulling a plugged cord through the wall, but then I added a zip tie that had a little loop. I used put the zip tie around the head of the plug and used one of the attachments in the kit to attach to the loop on the tie and it work like a charm!

I have done a lot of retrofitting wiring and have always been wondering about this type of products. This product is way over priced in materials and workmanship. The plastic parts looks and feels cheap. The magnets are weak. It will only work with empty drywall cavity and with 1/2" or less drywall. It may looks good on display situations but practically it's useless. For the ideal conditions, the regular steel wire fishing tape still outperforms this product by a lot in efficiency and maneuverability. I attempted to use stronger pulling magnates, but that does not help at all to overcome the slightest obstacles. So after repeated failure in real life situations, I consider this tool as completely useless for the designed purpose. Might be useful for something, you have to be creative.

I needed to run a low voltage cable behind a wall made of sheetrock and this tool came in super handy for the job! It has a couple of options for attaching to the string but I found that the magnet lost its grip a couple of times when trying to guide the string up the wall. I was able to pull it out and start over, eventually getting the job done. I would say it takes some practice to master the art of pulling cable with this. BTW, always use the string and not try to pull heavy cable itself with the tool since the magnet isn't really designed for that amount of weight. Overall this is much easier to use than one of those long fish tapes or even a set of rods.

I have been remodeling an older home over the last year, and while there hasn't been much electrical rewiring needed, there has been new runs that needed to be taken to areas where they're hadn't previously been wiring. Up until getting this item I had been utilizing either pieces of house wiring or even unfolded wire coat hangers to try and fish line from one hole to another, often from the basement into a wall and out a upstairs hole. Needless to say it was a pain. Now enter this little gadget and it makes things so much easier. Even in walls with insulation, although you might need to find something that will move the insulation back away from the drywall, this thing is slides effortlessly through the wall and brings a guidewire directly to where you need it. If you're remodeling, especially if you're remodeling, or just building a new home I would highly recommend the small investment in this great tool.

I love this thing! I never knew something like this existed until I came across it on Amazon. I have struggled for years with using the same old metal fish tape that is a pain to bend and is constantly getting stuck in the wall. This solves all those problems and is a phenomenal concept. You simply drop the magnet with a string in the wall and then use the other magnet on the outside of the drywall to slide it down! Works every time on drywall.I have not tried this on thicker walls but I think it would struggle. Perfect for drywall though. I am constantly running wires and this will be my new go to wire fisher.

This is better than fish tape and fiberglass rods when fishing wire through a wall with insulation.
