Easy to use, simply place the base of the indicating needle against the object you are testing. The needle indicator will move to a point on the scale that represents the strength of the magnetic field of the material (in gauss). The meter scale reads 20 units on either side of a zero center point, allowing for quick identification of the field’s polarity as well as the level of the magnetic field.

It works well. Just be careful not to let it anywhere near a magnet, or it will break. Even some refrigerator magnets will do it.

This instrument was useless after five minutes of use. We were using it to check magnets for my sons science project. We could not get an accurate measurement. Every magnet sent the needle either all the way to the left or all the way to the right, so we could not get an accurate reading. Then the needle stuck to the right side and never recovered.

Had a problem with stray magnetic fields on my airframe. Magnetometer would not align properly.Using this device I immediately found the source and, with my TIG unit, was able to eliminate the stray fields and test to verify they were gone.Wish I had been aware of this tool years ago.

Bought 2 of them and they are not working as expected. The indicating needle is sticking when placed near the parts being examined.

Easy to use, reliable...perfect for what I need. If you need a reading accurate to decimal places...this won't work. If you need to know if magnetism is present and a general idea of how strong...this is perfect.

I saw many reviews that this device is not working. The thing is that this Gauss meter is an instrument to measure very low magnetism, a typical refrigerator magnet has about 200 to 1,500 gauss and this device is for -10 through +10 gauss, if you use a magnet on it, you will damage the instrument. This device must be used for a metal piece that you don’t want it to be magnetized like vibration measuring areas for rotational equipments or other industrial applications. I hope this review finds you well if you intend to buy this instrument, it may not be the instrument you need for the use you want to.

Has helped me detect magnetism issues in all kinds of welding equipment. Works well to help eliminate arc blow issues.
