Another Great Product from Mikita. This saw is just with I needed for all my wood projects. I highly recommend.

This Makita replaced my last top-of-the-line Bosch corded jigsaw that finally bit the dust for the last time. It’s by no means cheap, but so far I’m happy with it. Smooth accurate cutting just like the Bosch, but quieter & no cord. Granted the soft start feature is different, but the user manual provides instructions to disable that feature if you can’t stand it. The push button on/off switch will take some getting used to. It’s not as straightforward as a trigger switch & until it becomes an automatic move, it will take a conscious effort to start & stop this saw. Other than that, I’m totally pleased with another great Makita tool to add to my 18 volt arsenal, and additionally, with just a slight modification to the retired Bosch jigsaw case, the new saw fits comfortably inside.

Great tool, I've had zero problems with it. I like the weight, accuracy and speed it can cut. This thing has very little vibration. Which helps even more with cutting accurate cuts. You don't have to fight with the jigsaw at all, if anything I find i have to almost hold it back, bc it wants to just cut into the wood. Granted holding it back is done with minimal effort.

I deducted a star for two reasons. First, the plastic sight/blade guard routinely pops out of place. This is truly annoying and very poor engineering. Hard to accept that type of lack of attention to detail in an expensive and otherwise high quality advanced tool Second, the soft start feature is flakey for me. At times it fails to ramp up. I am not sure why.Other than that, the tool is powerful and cuts accurately. This design makes it is easy to control and make very precise cuts. For people who have bought and and then complain about the design. Makita makes a conventional jigsaw for you. It is baffling why someone would buy this design if they did not like it. same with the lack of trigger. It is part of the design. Nobody tricked anyone. Just buy the other model. I have a number of jigsaws and still use them now and then for certain jobs. When I need precise cuts or am working with heavier materials, this is the one. It just has more power and control.Don't buy it if you want a trigger or don't like barrel grip, you may not be happy unless you're open to experiencing the benefits of this is a saw. If you want power and precision, this is the way to go.Makita, fix the plastic blade guard. Seriously.

I read a bunch of reviews on this product. Most were good but there were some complaints. Mostly about the size of the barrel or the lack of a trigger. I got this a few weeks ago and have used it for a few different projects. I have to say, I love it. The barrel is a bit thick but it’s not too thick. You can control the tool very easily. The lack of a trigger is not a problem at all. I like that after it’s turned on, it starts off slow, then speeds up when you start cutting. The thing cuts like a dream and there is little or no vibration at all. I’m using either 4.0 or 5.0 amp batteries and there is absolutely no problem with power.

I use this saw a lot doing trim and t&g ceiling work. Cuts super smooth. Unlock and go buttons took some getting used to, but it is the same configuration as my makita router. I at first questioned the lack of a trigger, but eventually came to like the auto speed. Really nice saw.

I purchased this tool when I needed to make clean curved cuts in dimensional 2x6 soft wood. It works so well and smooth, it's become my favorite tool! The on/off button can be slightly easier to use, but overall this is a great design and comfortable in the hands, very much more than the traditional jig saws. Highly recommend.
