The trailer was great, after I received all the parts. It arrived with the wrong tung. But they quickly shipped the proper part. Then I realized I was missing the axel bolts. Again they sent them quickly. Once I had all the parts it went together very smooth and works great. I even added my fishing cart.

Short version is that they sent an outdated trailer - if you look at this model # on different websites, it has wider cross-bars and an updated light kit. After a few back and forth with Malone support, apparently the trailer they sent is probably 2-3 years old. That light kit update in particular means that the other items that are supposedly compatible with the trailer, like the retractable tongue kit, are not compatible without purchasing additional items (either a fairly expensive replacement light kit or a 3rd party wiring harness). The wider bars will set you back ten percent of the purchase price - the manufacturer offered no assistance, either, other than telling me that they must be selling old stock, because they no longer sell any trailers with short black bars, those are only used for roof racks - which makes me wonder if they stopped using them on the trailers for safety or something along those lines. I thought I was getting a bargain, but I'll have to add twenty percent to the purchase to get back up to the current run of the trailer with this model number. There's also no way that you're putting this together in three hours without help. It took that long just to put the frame together (and I was using power tools), then you need to add the tires, the wiring, the load bars, and the carriers. Set aside at least 5-6 hours with power tools, add an extra hour or two if you're not using power tools, and add an extra hour or so if you want to make better lighting connections than the simple crimps they have supplied.Add in the hassle of getting the trailer documented (the paper with my trailer was out of date, by the way, invalid email address and process) and I probably should have just purchased a ready to buy trailer from a local vendor and paid 2x as much.

It is a nice product and I was able to get it together but the instructions started out ok and got progressively worse so that near the end I was totally guessing. It was also missing several parts called for in the Kayak hook package and, most importantly, the VIN number tag was not included! I can not register it until I get it and there is no info on who to call.

Looked at a lot of different trailer options and selected this one. Big fear of most people concerning this trailer was having to assemble it. This was not an issue, my 11 year old son and I built it in about 4.5 hours start to finish. My tip is to take the time a day ahead and read the entire install guide cover to cover. Very few tools needed and the install guide had lots of great photos for reference. Only suggestion for Malone would be to have a few more photos here and there to show different angles of some of the steps, but by no means is that a deal breaker. Only 6 days after building it I loaded two fishing kayaks onto it and did a 3,000 plus mile road trip from WI to FL and back. No issues, no worries. I give this trailer a thumbs up.

It is a pain to assemble but it is all holding together very well. If I had power tools it may have assembled in 4 hours.. However, since all the nuts have nylon retainers getting the bolts tight is a lot of manual labor - at least 8 hours worth. Make sure you leave ample wiring out of the tongue. Otherwise, it is a great trailer and tracks really well.

This was just delivered in 4 boxes, the largest of which was opened! I searched all boxes & found no instructions or manual. Nothing looks damaged, but without an assembly manual, I don't know if there are any missing parts. The picture is of the opened-as-delivered box - which I had not yet touched.

Assembly took me the better part of a day, not that complicated, but a lot of bolts to tighten, and some time to figure out what goes where. It worked fine on its first outing to the lakes about 3 hours away hauling a canoe and kayak.

This was a trailer that I had to put together. When I saw in spread out on the floor it seems like a daunting task at the least. However following the instructions it went together easily. Just to put a frame of reference I am 69 years old.
