A little smaller than I visualized, but good quality. Installed easily (it helps to be familiar with violin chinrests), the unit does not appear prone to slippage and it was easily tightened sufficiently without bending the hardware. One quibble was the installation thingy has a bend that's intended to prevent insertion too far (to prevent it poking out the back side of the ferrules or whatever, and damaging the instrument body as you tighten) but it's bent in the wrong spot - inserting to the bend means it sticks out far enough to gouge, so you just have to be careful, that's all. Only time will tell how it holds up.

This fit my mandolin nicely and makes playing more comfortable. I did have to carve the outside edge down a bit, give it a better radius. I used an exacto knife, and a little sandpaper and about 10 minutes. Overall, considering the price, I thought this was still worth it. If you are not able to do this, it might not be a good fit for you.

I'm learning to play the mandolin and several YouTube "experts" recommended getting an armrest for the instrument. A search will show that armrest prices range from $15-$120. As my introductory mandolin is by no means high end (only $180), I decided to get an armrest that is more aligned w/ it pricewise. While satisfied w/ the workmanship and finish of this armrest, a set of instructions about placement and tightening of the clamp hardware would've been nice. Though I worked out installation on my own, the clamping hardware when tightened just don't seem "right". I tried to make the posts look identical but one post is twisted and tightened more towards the top of the body and the other post is tightened more towards the bottom of the body. This wonky appearance was after several attempts to get them "matched".As I continue learning the mandolin and move up to mid-level instruments or higher, I will invest in higher quality armrests. Until then, this armrest will suffice for my beginner's mandolin.

It's made from very weak and cheap metal and it was warrped so I couldn't even install it. It's garbage! Save your money.

Nearly impossible to fit the wooden armrest completely flush to mando top. The armrest levers-up on it’s inside edge and wants to slide off over the mando’s top edge binding.

Totally surprised at how much I like this. Makes a big difference for me. I find it to be extremely comfortable and the perfect size. Looks great on my mando. Highly recommend.

Gets my palm off the bridge a little, which was my goal. Will protect the edge of my mando from wear from my arm. This was my 3rd purchase of this armrest. I even put one in my Eastman Octave Mandolin and it works fine. I don’t need a larger one.The only drawback is its sharp outer edge on the ebony. It hurts!!! All three I had to aggressively sand down. That’s the only design flaw in my opinion. Otherwise, well made, great price, and functional.
