A little noisy, but honestly not as bad as I expected. Works great. I started with 8 oz but will be going up to a pound to test it out at some point today. Very easy to assemble and use. Easy to follow directions and accompanying youtube videos. Highly reccomend to anyone with a yarn stash that needs reorganized. I can't wait to watch my craft area transform and not feel like my arm is gonna fall off!!! Machine feels very durable except for the plastic cone which you'll want to be careful with. Doesn't go super fast but you wanna be careful with that with yarn anyway. Wound 8 ounces in about 5 minutes. Looking forward to using it more!!

I tried a few hand winders and they all had inconsistent results. Only the smallest jobs wound with decent results, but still inconsistent. I had finally purchased a Boye electric winder and absolutely loved it. Perfect large cakes every single time. Unfortunately, it only lasted a year before the motor burned out. My husband can usually repair anything, but the machines housing was all plastic, and to reach the motor, the large suction cup area had to be cut out. He fixed the motor, but the machine wouldn’t work properly due to the inability to stabilize the machine with the suction cup altered. It’s no surprise that Boye no longer manufactures the machine, which is a shame, because it was a fantastic but needed a better design. I finally gave in and reluctantly purchased this machine. In the first weeks I had it, I rewound my entire yarn stash. I was determined to test the machine while fixing the awful “cakes” wound with the hand winders. One issue was the yarn end staying in place. I solved this by using a hair elastic band to hold the end securely and easily removing it afterwards. Also, the spindle can loosen and fly off, but I quickly realized that this only happened after using the machine for longer times. I solved the problem by checking the spindle and making sure it was tight and secure each time I would a new cake. It easily winds 2 skeins into one large cake making my yarn organized while taking up less space. Considering what I’ve paid for hand winders that produced poor results, this has been a bargain. It’s so compact that I can leave it attached to the counter for convenience and it’s not very noticeable. It’s got an all metal housing and separate clamp for stability, so if it needs work, my husband should be able to fix it, if not, I wouldn’t have an issue just purchasing another. I paid $100 for the Boye and would have bought another if it was available. This machine was half the price. So, in conclusion, had I bought this first, maybe I’d be disappointed with the yarn hold, or spindle flying off, but I’ve been through so many, this is the 1st one I’m actually really happy with based on results. That makes those two issues minor inconveniences that I quickly found solutions for. If you’re an experienced yarn crafter, you can understand how much easier it is to work with a center pull yarn cake free from knots and tangle which interrupts your creative flow. I’d recommend this winder. So far, so good.

This winder is awful! It will not hold the yarn when it’s put into the holding slot. I had to manually spin for several cycles before it would hold. Then the winding went out of control, winding so tightly it eventually broke the yarn. Turning the machine was useless; it continued to wind, however at a slower speed. Only way to stop was to pull the plug. Finally, it wound into a very short ball, in spite of advertising as XL. I could go on and on, but I think you get my point.

I have had this winder for 5 months and it worked extremely well until the peg holding the cone on broke off. The seller's solution glue it on because they don't offer replacement cones!

This little gem holds an entire jumbo Schacht bobbin full of yarn. It’s got a nice tensioner to it. Assembly was a breeze. I like the fact that the plastic cone on it twists off (not the skirt, but the upright cone) in case you want to take the ball off without worrying about the center collapsing. Very impressed and it’s a quite a heavy duty machine for the price. I would recommend that you have a lazy Kate to hold your full bobbin while winding to avoid the yarn coming off your bobbin unevenly to avoid any mishaps with yarn wrapping underneath the skirting. What a time saver! Worth every penny.

It's a little loud but so far it's made beautiful cakes! The motor makes a whining sound when I turn it on and I'm not sure if that's normal. I'm giving it 4 stars because it stops at even the slightest amount of pulling and I have to keep the yarn at the same height or it drags down the motor. I'm super happy with the results, though! Performs much better than the cheaper models sold on tiktok.

I am genuinely impressed with this yarn winder! I bought it so I could make cakes in general, and I liked that it makes 10oz cakes, even bigger ones too! And it can wind chunky and bulky yarns!Just make sure you're using it on a sturdy table so you can crank the speed up high. My desk is a little wobbly so I don't run it super fast, but it's still absolutely wonderful! The only modification I would make is an option to swap out the guide sizes so you can use the super chunky yarns and some bulky chenille yarn without worrying about fluff coming off and thinning out the yarn. (I'm a maker and I made bigger guides, which wasn't actually too difficult)I recommend this one to all of my friends too, because I love it so much! Has made my life so much easier!

Works very well; as others have noted, it's good to anchor the starting end with a bit of tape or sticky tack. I also noted that it's better to have the yarn feeding from the same height rather than in a container on the floor, to avoid excess drag on the machine. Very quick and quiet, a real timesaver.
