Many padlocks, even other ones made by Master Lock, get difficult to scroll after being outside for months. This one does not do that. The number wheels remain easy to scroll. Also, the cover keeps the numbers from fading, so they are easy to read, even after months of outdoor use.The locks are thick and sturdy, and I feel the contents of my cargo trailer are as safe as possible with these locks installed. I've never been more satisfied with a padlock as I am with this one.

I got this after I wasted my money on a bluetooth combination lock. The bluetooth lock was worthless because you needed a phone app to open the lock. I liked the temporary code function so that I could have someone else able to unlock and access the contents. It didn't allow me to pick a combination, had no zero, used so many digits that you had to send the code to the person who was to be able to unlock it also. Then, it didn't work, the only way I could open the lock was with the app.I ordered this padlock to solve the problem with the other bluetooth lock. This lock is strong and heavy, allowing you to pick a 4 digit code and has the zero too. I don't have to use my phone at all which is much better for my needs.

This lock is a replacement for an identical lock that we used daily for 12 years that weathered Texas winters and summers including torrential rain, constant wind, ice, and intense heat in the summer. Finally came apart, but even broken was still serviceable. Made the most sense to replace with what works. Highly recommend.

I have put this lock on my shed for several reasons. One, the last lock had just one key and I was always worried that I would lose it (where is the other one?). Two, the keyed lock has a special key that cost $9 USD to order from the lock company, it is a good safe lock but a little overkill on security. Three, even when you have a nice, keyed lock that no one could pick - you have to have a spare key somewhere which defeats the purpose of a nice lock. A criminal will search for spare keys when you're not home because he will assume that you won't let yourself get locked out.A combination lock solves all that and is one less key to guard with your life. Need to remember the numbers - use four digits from your credit card, then you don't have to write it down. The combo numbers can be changed easy on this lock and requires no key or pin that is used on other locks. I give this Master lock a recommend because I am not a key collector.

I bought two of these, along with two of the lower-end Master combo locks with the black enameled body, at the same time for some shed doors. Both are marked as outdoor/all weather locks, but the black ones corroded around the number-rollers over just a few months and one of them would no longer open and had to be cut off. These gold-bodied locks with the rubber number-cover, by comparison, look brand new after being outside for nearly a year through heavy rain and snowstorms and both broiling and freezing weather. Zero corrosion, and even the rubber number-cover still looks brand new. If you read the instructions, you can set the custom combination in under a minute, it's very simple to use. The locks are heavy duty, and the weatherproofing is excellent. I highly recommend these locks - the black-bodied locks are a few dollars cheaper and OK for indoor use, but these gold-bodied locks with the rubber covers for the numbers are FAR superior if you're going to be using them outdoors and exposed to the elements.
