Bought this to hold 1/4 bit extensions and a right angle adapter. The magnet is strong and holds everything perfectly.

This magnet will hold any metal tool and securely. I saw one bad review that said it won't hold a hammer or pliers? Not so. It will and does nicely. Another reviewer stated it won't adhere to a metal cabinet. Well that's where this ours is mounted and it adheres fine. The only thing I found odd is when I tried some kitchen knives it didn't hold strong. I'm assuming the different alloys in some knives are the culprit. Other than that very pleased as it wasn't purchased for the kitchen.

I installed the silver / chrome version of this bar yesterday and it seems to be a good, well-made product. My only qualms are that 1) I didn’t love the color options (chrome + red or black + yellow) so I removed the thin red tape on mine and replaced it with a better quality piece of grey gaffers tape. See attached pic. Also, 2) it comes with two flat head screws. Who uses those anymore? I used my own #10 screws for the install. If I could give the product a 4.5 rating I would but it’s still a good product so I rounded up and gave it a 5.

I have bought at least 20 different kinds of magnetic bar for holding tools and knifes on Amazon, and they all suck, none of them have the holding strength that they claim. This one has some serious magnetic pull, it isn't just a bar with some cheap magnetic tape in it. You can tell it actually has real magnets. It can hold 2 19 oz hammers no problem. It's simple and easy to install, perfect for my garage, I would definitely recommend it.

Although it has regular ceramic magnets, it holds tools very well unlike the vast majority of this type of magnetic holders. It's is made accurately, works well and is quite attractive. The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the type of screws that were included. They are flat head (slot) and require straight blade screwdriver. Anybody who can hold a screwdriver understands how ridiculous it is to use this type of fastener when there are hex, Phillips, Robertson, Torx, etc around for decades. And to complicate things futher, the screws are made of a ferrous alloy, so using them near a strong magnet adds to the excitement. So just throw those screws away and use something more user friendly.I think the manufacturer hurts its own reputation by something that doesn't even cost extra to be decent.

This bar has a strong magnetic pull that holds the tools tightly. It easily supports tools of decent weight, like a hammer, crowbar, pliers, etc.It does what it says well and I would recommend this product.

These Master Magnetics AMC18PLC Magnetic Tool Holders are AMAZING. They cost a little more than cheaper competing products, but the magnetic holding force is far superior. In fact, if you have a tool that has a lot of metal surface area, such as a Kreg Pocket Hole Clamp, the magnets are TOO powerful, and I would worry that wrenching the clamp free would overstress the mounting screws. That said, the holding power is perfect for chisels, screwdrivers, wrenches, and other such common items. I have mine mounted on a rolling cart, which is why I was concerned to find some really powerful magnets. Now I can roll over bumps or jostle the cart very hard and not have to worry about anything falling off. In fact, when I first received these, I attached a full suite of wrenches and chisels and shook the entire bar at arms length... Nothing happened! Not a hint of movement from any tool! Simply awesome. This particular bar is 18" long, which is perfect for my needs, since I'm mounting it in an 18.5" wide space and in my experience, it is good to leave a little extra space (1/4") at either end of the bar so that attached tools don't get crowded by the sides of your cabinet/cart/corner wall. Having handled two of these now myself, I can attest they really do seem to have 20 lbs. of holding force PER INCH. Also, I now understand what other reviewers mentioned about the red stripe. It is indeed just a thin strip of red electrician's tape, but cleanly applied and recessed deeply enough that it MAY last; however, it is not especially durable and will tear or abrade easily if you mount any kind of tool with a protrusion that can reach or rub against it (I'm not sure what that would be... maybe a hand saw or coping saw with a small side screw adjustment that can reach between the bars). Obviously, the red tape is there to hide the series of magnets sandwiched between the top and bottom metal plates. (Those magnets are plainly visible on the backside.) It would be easy enough to replace the tape if damaged, and frankly, I don't mind if the stripe doesn't hold up. Even with exposed magnets, I think it will look fine in a workshop. It's not going over the mantle. I only mention it in case it does matter to others. All in all, I can't imagine a better magnetic tool holder. Aside from the red tape issue--which doesn't bother me--the only other concern I can think of is that the magnets may be too powerful for some people's tastes. As I mentioned above, large surface area tools can clamp on with quite a bit of force, so I would not recommend this for large flat metal surfaces like some heavy duty clamps, nor for precision tools like a calipers or steel framing square since the force may cause minor deflection when attaching/removing those tools that then throws off their precision. For everything else, these are ideal. If I were going to improve one thing, I think I would place the mounting holes inside the bar "sandwich" (i.e., through the center of the red stripe) to give it a cleaner look without the protruding mounting tabs. No big deal though. Since I'm mounting mine low down on the face of a cart, I flipped them upside down (versus the picture) so you don't see the tabs from normal standing eye level anyway.Very highly recommended!

Received the Product and it matches the seller's description. The magnet stip is very strong and very easy to install with the supplied hardware (they're slotted screws; some people don't like to use them but with the proper screwdriver or bit, it's no problem).Serves it purpose very well and happy with the purchase!
