I’ve had at least three electronic stud finders and they just don’t work consistently. I’ve tried and tried using them many times with very mixed results. I saw my electrician using this magnet last week and I asked about it. He said he saw a seasoned sheet rock worker using it who said it was the best thing he ever used. That’s the kind of endorsement which gets my attention. This simple item just plain works. If there is a slight downside, it attracts other metal items in your toolbox.

Initially used a magnet like this on smooth walls and it worked like a charm. Simpler and more accurate than my electronic stud finger. The magnet would hold itself to the wall and there was no question you found yourself a stud.Now, I have walls with a little bit of raised texture and it doesn’t just glide across the wall directly to the stuff. It takes a bit more time to find a stud and magnet doesn’t have the instant results I was used to so it’s no longer quite the game changer it used to be, but still a great tool for the price and simplicity.

This is a much more accurate way of finding studs than the traditional electronic stud finder, the magnet finds the nail heads under the paint and is strong enough to stay on the wall while I get tape to mark the studs, I am a professional AV installer and use this stud finder every day. I definitely wouldn’t be without it! I obviously never have to replace batteries which is a plus. I have found electronic stud finders to be inaccurate as they will show when you have a double layer of sheetrock, so this was a welcome fix to that issue... Highly recommended!

I use it conjunction with an electronic stud finder since the stud finder results are kind of fuzzy. Once I get an indication of where a stud could be, I use this tool to pin down the location of an actual nail.

I purchased this because my walls are full of insulation and a lot of stud finders assume the walls are hollow and work on density so were beeping all the time when run against my walls. I have had no difficulty quickly finding the studs using this magnet. It is strong enough that once it found the screws it would hold against the wall.

Strong magnet and easy to use. Great price. Simple to use and has a nail holder to show u where to put the nail. Magnet attaches to screw in the wall showing you where the stud is located. Great product.

You can scuff along your walls with this gadget, looking for studs but I found it was about what I paid for. Not all that accurate and it could mark up your walls while you flounder around looking for screws. It finally works but takes a while and strikes me that if you are a pro, you can probably do a lot better with a more expensive model that works on more than a simple magnet!

Have old lath and plaster walls with thick texture on the walls. Didn't work for my case to detect the studs but still a really good product that has come in handy for any time you need a strong magnet!

Simple design, works well - you just have to slide the magnet across the wall in a Z pattern to find the screw behind the wall.
