The flexible magnet strip is magnetic on one side and black vinyl coating on the reverse, and can be attached and easily repositioned on flat or slightly curved steel surfaces. The vinyl side can be written on directly with a wet-erase or permanent marker, or a pre-printed adhesive paper label can be attached. Strength rating is 7 pounds of pull per linear foot. The strip withstands temperatures from -15 to 160 degrees F and can be cut with scissors.

Flexible magnets can be easily cut and shaped for a range of applications. They are produced by mixing powdered iron or ferrite with a rubber or plastic binder, and then extruding or rolling into the desired shape. Flexible magnets can have adhesive backing and be laminated with a printable vinyl coating. Flexible magnets are typically magnetized with multiple poles on one surface to generate a stronger holding force. High-energy flexible magnets can sometimes be used in place of ceramic materials if tight tolerances are not required. The application temperature range is determined by binder material properties.

I used this to seal up some gaps on my fireplace doors when the fireplace is not in use. This helps seal up some of the air gaps. It magnetizes well to the metal used in the door surround and the black vinyl covering blends in almost perfectly. If they sold this in smaller lengths that would honestly have been much more useful to me. I have a significant amount left over after using what I needed. Although I expect the kids will find some fun things to do with the remainder.

Needed magnets for a variety of things I've been doing so I got this roll. This roll isn't the strongest in the world but I wasn't expecting it to be and it works well for my purposes.Cuts easily with a pair of good scissors.
