WHAT IS A MARTINGALE COLLAR?
The main difference between a martingale collar and a regular collar is that it tightens up as a dog pulls. The purpose of this is not to choke a dog, but to prevent a dog from escape the collar. Many dogs have heads that are the same size or smaller than its neck. With a regular collar, when a dog backs up from up, it may be able to slip a regular collar. With a martingale collar, when this happens, the collar tightens and prevents it from come up over a dog's head.

PROPER SIZING
Our martingale collars are measured fully extended. When measuring your dogs neck, please measure his neck near the top portion and be sure to press down through all its fur to get an accurate measurement. Most people do not press down the fur to get a correct measurement. This leads to them over measuring their dog's neck and then ordering a size that is too large.
When the collar is on your dog, the metal pieces at the ends should not touch. The nylon portion attached to the D-ring should be extended. If you pull on the D-ring and the collar does not tighten, then the collar is too large and must be adjusted smaller.
GREAT FOR TRAINING
A martingale collar also tightens if the dog is pulling on a leash. You can give your dog slight corrections and it will respond much better than if it were wearing a regular collar.

This martingale collar is great while giving support not to pull it loosens up easily when your pup stops pulling . The color is vibrant and much better then the photos , there is even a great spot for attaching ID tags separate from the leash hook up and a locking buckle for those who love to escape or play rough loosing their collar in the meantime a feature which I really love.. 😀I have now bought one for all 4 of my dogs. Not to mention it has some great reflective materials. It is very well made . True to size and very functional.

I ordered this martingale collar for our new rescue dog. We have had previous experience with this brand and love the quality of their products. One of the special features of this collar is that the clasp has a lock feature that I have not seen in other brands. I also love the reflective stitching. This is a well made collar and it is suitable for any size dog. We have large breed dogs and the Max and Neo collar works extremely well. This company also supports rescue! Win Win!

Size, appearance, durability, visibility super. The original from 6 years ago eventually lost it's brilliant color but still was working perfectly.My Yellow Labrador Retriever seems to be very comfortable with it, even waiting for it before going out on a walk.

This is a very nice collar and I am very happy with the service I have received in regards to the collar. It fits my Jack Russell perfectly, as a matter of fact I thought it might be too small for him but it is actually a tiny bit big but I can adjust it down. I choose the bright orange for our little guy to help make him more identifiable as a pet being as he is mostly white. So far the collar has been great, my only issue was that the locking mechanism on the collar was not working right. I wrote to the seller just to inquire on the mechanism and they are sending out a new one without my even asking for them to. Will update this review further once we receive the new collar. The workmanship on the collar is very nice and I do like the martingale. When we got our JRT from the Jack's Galore Russell Refuge in MA they gave us one but after wearing it for a while we replaced it but never with another martingale. We are glad we tried this one and the added bonus they donate collars to dog rescues!!!! I hope Jack's Galore is on their list.... Thanks for the GREAT service!!!

This collar has been very effective in quickly teaching my puppy to walk calmly on a leash. The collar has the side benefit of effectively restraining my dog when he unexpectedly becomes overexcited and fearful.Because he is a puppy and being introduced to new things I never know what might frighten him or send him into a panic. Today a FedEx truck came close to us unexpectedly as we were walking on the sidewalk in the neighborhood . My puppy just wildly tried to escape—into the path of the truck. Fortunately the collar did exactly what it was designed to do and he was not able to escape it and stayed within my control. An ordinary collar would have been an ineffective restraint annd he would very likely has slipped out of it. That scenario could have been deadly.One last observation. Before purchase I was torn whether the clap was a feature I wanted in a Martingale collar. After using it I have found it to be easier than the traditional design and very effective.Overall, I highly recommend this collar as being sturdy, well designed and well made.

Collar fits a little on the big side but works great. Only issue is it came with a aper saying a free gift, I have yet to recieve this gift they speak of.

It broke after just a few weeks. for 30 bucks? I have a pet smart brand that's on it's second dog. About 11 years old. but at least it broke with in the 30 day period.

After looking for a martingale collar with a buckle for a while, I thought I had struck gold finding the Max and Neo collar on Amazon and ordered two, one each for the two dogs. However, my luck changed for the worst when one (out of the 2 ordered at the same time) were delivered.Not only did both collars not come at the same time, which has never happened before but the collar is way too thin and may as well be a cat collar. I understand they can’t be as wide as a normal collar for a very large dog but just because they’re small doesn’t mean they need very thin cat collars. Alongside this, the measurements are way off and a good inch smaller than their other collars which are the same size! I am more than disappointed with my order and am now stuck with a useless collar that will end up being donated as the return fee will be too high to post it back to Amazon global and another one which I hope will be cancelled but may just end up with 2 useless collars and the loss of cash I spent on these.

Exactly as described. I think it is quite a bit of money for what it is but the quality is reasonable.
