I caught a lot of trout on this 3 pound leader. The trout fought hard and this line never broke. Three pound leader might sound wimpy. But this line is strong.

Have all 3 maxima leader colors for different types of fishing. I bought the clear for bass leaders, mainly top water flies and poppers. I use the ultra green for streamer leaders. Love this stuff! I’ve been using it since I was a kid and I’m old.

I actually got this for an extra safety measure for my gold necklace. I’m not secure enough with the current clasp so I run this through both sides of the clasp. This way if the clasp should come undone, the necklace will still stay connected. The line is strong enough that I’m secure it won’t snap. I’m not a fisherman so I don’t use it to fish. It does what I wanted it for so no reason not to give 5 stars.

I tried several spools of this Clear Maxima and all of them are covered by this one review.It's good stuff. I holds a knot better than most lines and doesn't show much line memory until you hit 25# test or higher. I'd give it 5 stars except I also use Maxima Chameleon in the same test(s) as the Clear, and Chameleon is much better: it has higher breaking strength and seems to be harder and more abrasion resistant which is important when dragging line across corals.If I could, I'd give it 4 and 3/4 stars, but I just can't give it 5 stars. Very good stuff, but not the best. Chameleon edges it out.

This is the "real deal" when it comes to quality leader material for fly fishing. I use it for steelhead fishing. The average steelhead (lake trout) in our area weighs in at about 7-10 pounds. Some bigger, some smaller. Therefore, I always carry several selections of weights. 8 lbs. is usually what I start with and work up or down according to the stream conditions and fish size. Anyways, this line is easy to work with. Knots hold well and line has just enough give. I was disappointed when the "big box" sporting shops in our area stopped carrying it.
