I ordered 2, 4TB drives. Both came well packaged and impressed with the detailed inserts about formatting and warranty. Both drives came with minor scratches on the case but these are used so it didn't bother me. After doing extended SMART scans on both, one showed bad sectors within 24 hours of receiving it. Well time to test the 5 year warranty. The insert details how to warranty them in the future and I advise you to keep the card just in case. Sent. a email and got a response within hours. The sent a prepaid USPS return label through email and all I had to do was send back the drive. Luckily I still had the box the drives came in. Shipped it off and within a few days I had a replacement in my NAS. I guess I was lucky to live in the same state as the seller of the drives. Replacement is working great and had no issues so far.Only issue is the drives are loud! Also the power on hours have been wiped and all 3 drives I had/have started at 0 hours of use, but the with the right tools I was able to see they had 60,000 + hours. So if you are wiling to get a good deal on old drives with good warranties then you cant go wrong.

tldr - customer service is great. and value for the money is great. However reliability of the drive is terrible.I bought this drive in October and was impressed by the value. it was very affordable and came with 5 year warranty.However after 4 months my server crashed and I thought it was an older drive but then realized it was the drive I bought in October!I was very upset because I have not fixed my offsite backup situation and I'm going to lose some data. after I contacted support they are going to send me a new drive with no hassles. You actually talk to amazon first and then they facilitate the communication with the seller.I'd recommend this product to build a storage server on the cheap and know you have 5 years of excellent support on the drives. Just make sure you have a good backup situation and don't be like me.

Rule #1 in IT is 'Don't buy second hand HDDs'.Unless they are Hitachi.Indeed, after reading the good feedback from other buyers, I decided to break rule #1. A couple years ago. Got several, and keep buying them!They worked on a small RAID array in a Synology NAS. Then on Terramaster NAS. Then I expanded the NAS to a RAID 5, with 5 HDDs, all from here, second hand, used in data centers.My RAID hosts all files, plus the streaming from 4 security cameras. That's 24/7, month after month.Every test and the SMART metrics are perfect. I have five or six 4 TB drives, three 8 TB and recently bought a 10 TB drive. You can't go wrong with these!

I have not found a way to warranty these as WD no longer warranties HGST devices. Beware!

I've bought many of these Ultrastar drives, and they've been amazing, but it's irritating that this seller wipes all the SMART usage data from them, so you can't really keep track of how many hours are on your drives, or any other historical usage data. Irritating, to say the least.

This drive is probably the best price for storage that doesn't involve used drives. It is 7200 rpm, while similarly priced seagate drives are 5400 rpm. This means better read and write speeds.Don't expect amazing random reads and writes, because this is a hard drive, but hopefully you aren't using this for your boot drive anyway.The drive can be a bit noisy when doing extended writes, such as downloading a large game, and the vibration is large enough that if your drive is near the bottom of your pc, then you will feel the vibration in your feet.drive seems to be healthy, will update if it stops working
