Very disappointed with the unit not being accurate and frustrated with Ampro customer service to troubleshoot calibration. I am used to odometer type measuring wheel and need the instrument to be accurate.I know enough to calibrate the instrument every week to make sure it is still measuring accurately for my work measuring perimeter of houses. I wanted to get a digital type measuring wheel to read from the handle so thought this was going to be a great purchase.Using a tape measure on a flat concrete drive I tested first at 10' to find this digital reading was off. Then I tested at 25' off even more.I contacted the seller to get any instructions to correct calibration. Responds were to tell me how to use the wheel. Seeming to make it appear it was off because of user error. I patiently went back and forth doing what they said to do to confirm not user error. It appears this is really made for measuring metric as they had no imperial tape measure just a metric tape measure testing their own unit. After at least 10 times at different distance using feet setting none of the measurements matched the imperial tape distance. All were 2-3% less than tape. Never admitting that there was not a way to fix only saying that it was accurate at metric readings. I don't have a metric tape to test that statement. The technical data on the instructions indicate that for both metric and imperial the accuracy is to be +/- .05 percent. I could live with that precision, but not ever reading accurate and to boot -2-3% every time is unacceptable. At least it was consistently reading the same for each time I measured the same distance.Another disturbing comment from support was that it needed to be used on a flat surface and held in same position walking the distance to be accurate. Of course that was what I was doing testing it, but for real life it was going to be used on different type of surfaces and not always flat. Leading me to think this is only designed to be used on paving.Finally, they said to request amazon replace this unit with another. Well, the replacement arrived. Guess what this unit read the same measurements at the same distances and at the same inaccuracy. This test confirmed it was going to be a consistent issue with any unit at least for those who will be using the feet option.Buyer be ware

I thought this would be a timesaving device, but you do get what you pay for. Being digital, the unit would be more "accurate", but the way it registers units and how it was calibrated (not user adjustable) really is usable only for very flat surfaces. While it's useful, I would double check with a proper tape or professional grade measuring wheel to see how far off this is initially and if the results are "usable" for your needs. I understand there is a deviation value and more than one measurement should be made, but the accuracy on this is too far off on the high side of being acceptable to mark a perimeter of property lines that are over 120 feet, as my measurements were off by a few inches (within the manufacturer's deviation limit) of all points indicated by the property plot map. For $50 with a coupon, it's a decent user tool to mark off a field or playground to mark boundaries, but not as a precise measuring device to get accurate data.

I've had this for just over 2 years now, and I'm still on the fence with it. I love how handy it is with the easy folding and the storage bag. I love the built-in conversions. I love the detailed accuracy of the digital display. I love that it feels sturdy and reliable. However, I wasn't thrilled with the build quality when I took it out of the box and like others have shown, the stick-on control pad wasn't stuck on. The wires are too stiff and always pull it off. I also don't like the buttons themselves. They're the little bubble-types that can be difficult to press sometimes - especially with gloves on. And, while I haven't actually checked the calibration on it, I do not fully trust how accurate it really is. There are times it feels like its dead on, and there are times when it just doesn't seem right. So, like my title says - it's good enough for amateur work, but if you're a pro looking for something you'll use every day for paid work, I suggest spending a bit more. I received this as a promotion to review, but I'm not a paid reviewer or employee. This is my honest opinion, and I will update this review if anything changes.

~~Pros~~+ I play ultimate frisbee and this makes measuring the field for setting the cones up very easy.+ I also play softball and we do home run derby. We like to measure out how far away we hit balls and setting the 300, 325, 350, 375, and 400 foot markers is effortless with this.+ The rolling wheel works perfectly and tracks distance accurately.+ This unit is easy to use and understand. Changing what unit it measures in is very intuitive.+ The carrying bag is really convenient because this folds up small and fits right in.+ The LED display is clear and readable even in the daytime.~~Cons~~- None as of yet-----Diamond's Star Rating System (What do my star ratings mean?):1 STAR - Completely unusable, would request a refund2 STAR - Meets minimum viable product requirements, wouldn't purchase it again3 STAR - It does what it should, but in a non-spectacular way, I may recommend it, but definitely with reservations4 STAR - I like it. It is solid quality and delivers as advertised, I would purchase it again and recommend it to a friend5 STAR - I love it. It meets or exceeds all of my expectations and is high quality, I would purchase it again and would openly promote it to friends
