Style Tips for Knitted Ties
- Finding the Right Size:
- Typically knitted ties look best when slightly narrower in width (2 to 2.5 inches). Some designers do make wider knitted ties (about 3.25 inches) which are great for wearing double breasted suits, and jackets with wider peak lapels.
- Knit Tie Colors:
- The color depends on the season. Darker, muted shades suit the colder months of the year while brighter, more vivid shades should be reserved for the warmer days in spring and summer. For the Winter in knitted ties in charcoal, maroon, and dark navy are great choices.
- Popular Patterns:
- Solids and horizontal stripes are most popular. Personally I like the simplicity of the dark solid knits for the Winter. In my opinion the knitted fabric texture adds enough contrast as is. Another favorite of mine are knitted ties with small polka dots. Looking for something different? Then you may fancy knitted ties featuring a different colored tip.
Layering:
- Note the navy cardigan sweater layered under the Harris tweed jacket. Also worth pointing out is the slightly more casual looking button down collar shirt as well as contrasting textured silk pocket square.
Summer Pairings
- The cream colored stripes on the knitted tie give this piece a summer look. Perfectly paired with a cotton suit (note the double breasted style). finely striped blue shirt, and vivid colored silk hanky.
Wear Knited Ties
- Tying a Knitted Tie
- To compliment the more casual looking fabric texture of the knitted tie, slightly asymmetric tie knots are best.
- Great combination:
- Solid navy knit tie with blue gingham shirt. Pair this combination with gray tweed sports coat and a pair of well fitted blue denims.
- Accessorizing a knitted tie:
- While tie bars and tie clips usually don’t compliment, collar bars are a great way to add elegance and a more personal note when wearing a knit tie.

As an attorney, I have to wear a tie every day. Over the years, I have amassed a collection several hundred strong, and I am very picky about my ties. By and large, though, the only ties that ever get complimented are my knit ties. This one is no exception. People always seem to think it was handmade, not a $10 tie. The knit itself is super high quality, and it makes a very nice knot. The only thing I would change about this tie is the pointed end--I would prefer a more traditional straight end, but that gripe is not enough to keep me from wearing this one.

Overall good color and knit but the drape is okay. It is not a folded tie and the tie is small. I like the pointed end which uncommon for many knitted ties.

I finally changed my mind ... I like these knit ties.So many compliments. My old ties must not be in style anymore.These are:DurableNice, Solid, Rich ColorPointed Bottom (that’s different than the squared!)Good Price (can’t believe how expensive in Dept. Stores!)Versatile. I thought it was only for a more “causal†wear, but now I think they really can be pulled off as “formal†with the right suit combination.Okay... I haven’t worn knit ties since I was a kid & I NEVER thought I would own one again. But I needed a solid tie quick to match my new sport coat. I got so many compliments, now I have purchased 2 more from this vendor! After the PURPLE, I purchased the NAVY & then an awesome MAROON/TAN Speckled Tie (to go with my tan suit).Hope this was helpful!

I really like the tie. Good design and width/length. I’m just concerned about the smell. I’ve worn it a few times but it’s not going away. What is that smell. Any hazard to health?

Love this tie! I wear it a fair bit. Only complaint is it's a little short (I'm 5'10) and it had an odd petrochemical smell when I first removed it from the plastic, but that went away.

The texture and colour of this tie are great. It’s a little on the skinny side, but the pictures represent this quite well.I’m 6’2†and the tie is plenty long.
