This little shovel is a pleasure to use when digging shallow holes in the park. I can quickly access metal objects and flip the grass plug back over when done. A firm step on the plug allows it to go back into place. This shovel is quite sharp and that is why it is easy to use. Quality built.

My son and I enjoy metal detecting and we both have used this to dig finds. He is 9 years old and hard on my tools. We have been using it for a few months now and dug a lot of holes with it mostly in rocky ground. It feels very well built and so far has held up well. The handle is grippy and the blade is pretty thick stock. The finish has worn off most of the blade but I keep it clean and oiled to avoid rust. The serrations on the sides make it easy to cut out a plug or to cut through small roots and vegetation. The tip has rolled just a small amount from hitting rocks but it was easy to sharpen back up. The sheath is made out of ballistic nylon with a large belt loop that should fit up to a 2’’ belt easily. The belt loop is stitched closed and has not come loose. It would have been nice if they had added snaps to close the loop so it could be attached to backpacks and things with greater ease. I deducted one star because the rubber grip has come loose a bit and can now turn a little when digging. It has not slid off. Other then that it has been a great tool. I would definitely recommend it to others looking for a sturdy digger for work or play.

Picked this up as a holiday gift. Nice sturdy shovel without breaking the bank. The holster will make it nice to not have to carry everything in a bag.

This thing is thick and well-made. I bought this to go with my new metal detector and even though I haven’t tried the namebrand shovel it can’t be better than this. The thing cut through roots like butter. I read a few complaint about the sheath, but I gotta say it works perfectly too. Zero complaints. A really well made product.

This will dig up some dirt. Very strong. Serrated sides are good for scrapping grass away. Haven't tried to saw with it so I don't know if that will be good. glad I took a chance.

Very Quick post got it 2 days ago. Have used this Trowel or knife as I call it twice, and 2nd day used for 5 hours in mostly wet soil, with plenty of rocks and gravel, deep in the usually dry and sometimes unforgiving earthy soils of Australia.The only concern about this trowel knife, is the handle? It feels solid enough, but have notice the metal handle in side the rubber mounted grip, is hollow inside. Although I sense it might buckle, my question is, will it buckle, or break off, over time?I like this Trowel Knife for what it can do and how it cuts into the ground with ease in where I live, but I am also some what concern about the blade, of this knife and at the neck. I was digging a deep hole and approximately 15cm down, I came upon a large imbedded rock (size of a intact solid 30cm clay brick) which I dug around it, and tried levelling it out of the hole. At that moment, I thought I felt the neck and blade Bend a tiny bit, from the neck down. It could of been just me, as I was putting a bit of pressure upon the handle, to wedge the rock loose? Maybe I wasn't handling the trowel knife right, when it comes to levelling out solid sizeable brick like rocks, being stuck deep under the earth for a long time. Still though, better to be safe then sorry. "Now", somewhat knowing how much pressure this trowel knife and the handle can take, I will have some idea of when to back off and ease the pressure off this new trowel knife of mine.But just for the sake of it, it maybe a good idea to re-enforce the handle and neck, just incase someone dose have a accident and sues the makers of this trowel knife?? (just saying)

I ordered this for garden digging to cut through the small roots that make it hard to dig through with a regular shovel. I also do some metal detecting and this will really help with the ground we have in my area once I have a chance to get out in spring. I find the shovel is made of strong metal and will not bend and seems very sturdy, easy to hold in the hand with a nice handle. As far as the sheath being able to stand up I do not know as yet until I get using it regularily. I will follow up with the review on that but I do not find it important as one can make a new one from leather if they are so inclined.
