Works better (quieter) than my black rubber mute and securely stays on bridge. Much better design than the traditional metal mutes that can literally just fall off . I highly recommend . Does not have that nasally tone that rubber causes

Edit: Replaced previous review. Squeeze the sides down so that they clamp solid to the bridge and this mute works much better. It can make your violin quiet. My fiddle is very loud and I practice with a mute to save my ears. I'm 64.

I like this mute. I would say it mutes about the same volume as the large rubber mutes, but is much smaller which is a plus. I like it much better than the heavy metal practice mutes, not only is it much lighter, but the sound is not as dull. It also looks pretty elegant compared to other practice mutes. Also takes up much less space in the case than other practice mutes.My only complaint is the prongs were too wide so it didn’t wedge on to the bridge at first, it just sat on top and made a buzzing noise. I pressed the prongs closer together so it would actually be clipped onto the wood of the bridge.

Best practice mute I have ever found and I have went through quite a few. You need to squeeze the metal in enough to fit your bridge but once you do, it's great. Does a great job of just muting the volume without overly affecting tone/pitch.

This mute does the job with a low profile. Just what I wanted for late night apartment practice. It was loose upon arrival, probably to ensure it fits all bridges, and I just used my teeth to squeeze the tines together. Perfect fit now. It doesn’t come with instructions but this seems like common sense.

Don't bother trying this. It's junk. Too loose to dampen tone. Looks pretty though...go back to the old standard mute.

Good quality. I had to adjust the gap to fitment bridge (7/8 size) but works well.
