I'm new to doing anything car-related, and I wasn't even sure if I needed this adapter or not, but I ordered it just to be safe. When I got it it was in perfect condition, and it feels 10x more sturdy than the wires that came with my new stereo. I am disappointed that I had to solder and heat-shrink the wires (I figured this would be the entire cable unit, not half of one), but my step father had all the tools and showed me exactly how to do it. (NOTE: You don't HAVE to solder and heat shrink the wires.. you could just twist and electrical-tape them, but that can easily come undone and cause problems.) I've yet to actually hook up my stereo, but my step father took it out to my car and tested it (I believe with a volt meter, but I'm not sure) and said everything should be fine when actually plugged in. If you are new to any kind of car/electrical work, I do highly suggest you look up guides on YouTube or ask someone you know who knows how to do it for help. I doubt I could have done this all on my own, since the only thing I really know how to do with my car is change a tire and check the oil.

I bought this to install a new head unit in my 1998 Saturn SC2. It arrived on time and all the wires came pre-stripped at the end which made it easy to connect to the adapter for the radio. My only issue with this was that the wires did not match up with the harness in my car when I went to plug it in, so I had to take a bunch out of the plug and put them in the right order. It was not a difficult process, and it could be achieved with a little help from a paper clip and an extra set of hands (my dad helped me out), but for some reason I was expecting them to already all be in the right order. However, this was my first time working with car electronics of any kind, so I really didn't know what to expect going in. Having said that, even with that setback it still was not difficult to use and now that everything is straightened out it works great. No major complaints. Just be prepared to adjust some wires. A quick search on youtube for removing wires from a wiring harness was all I needed to correct the problem I faced.

At first I thought that there was a problem with this wiring harness not matching up with my 99 GMC Yukon. The Yukon had the factory stereo with the separate slaved CD player. I thought maybe this was the problem when I could not get power. I have since learned that this wiring harness matched perfectly with my original terminal end in the dash. My problem was with the color codes in the manual I received from the aftermarket stereo manufacturer. This harness is actually wired in the standard EIA colors. If your aftermarket stereo is using standard EIA color-coded wires then all you have to do is match the colors from this harness to your new stereo head unit. Put the red wire on the red wire, the black on the black, green on green, green with a black stripe on green, etc. It matches correctly and works very well. I am very pleased with this item and it is much cheaper on Amazon than in the auto parts store.Note that the GM antenna plug in the dash in many older GM vehicles DOES NOT FIT the antenna plug in most, if not all, aftermarket units. You have to buy an adapter for the antenna wire. Those can easily be found on Amazon. I have seen the adapter offered as a Metra adapter on Amazon.

I drive a 96 beretta and this was almost a perfect fit but i had to cut and file down the fins a fraction of an inch to get it to fit even a little bit but so far after months of driving and typical radio use nothing has shorted out and its worked great so not bad
