Box was a lot more sturdier than I thought it would be. Seems to be very well made. Some are complaining about the knockouts not really being knockouts. You have to remember that most people will have this mounted OUTDOORS, so if the knockouts were pre punched then water would get inside thru the ones not being used!!! AH HAA..no one is thinking about that. Just get a step bit or hole cutter and be done with it. Also, it works perfectly with the Champion yellow 30 amp twist lock cable.

Only issue was the knockout was almost impossible to get out without a grinder. I almost destroyed the box trying to get the knockout to release

My only negative on this item was trying to knock out the 1/2" KO in the back of the enclosure. I hit it so much with a screw driver as my impact point and all it did was bend the back of the enclosure. I ended up using my 7/8's carbide cutter to cut the KO out of the 3/4 ring. Other than this issue, everything seems great and the inlet seems to be good quality. It's 30amp rated, but the inlet accepted #8 cu wire (40amp) just fine and the fit was good with the plug that we used to feed the inlet. I also like the small green light indicator on the front of the cover, nice to see we have power at the inlet. Overall this seems to be a good product.

I bought this specifically to back feed my house in case of a power outage with my generator. My install was simple since I have a sub panel in my garage. I plan on making a couple different whips to run my welder, 208 heater and have a beefy extension cord for serious yard work. The only issue I had was getting the knockout removed...it was in there. I eventually had to drill it out. I ran #8 THHN for added protection and it fit fine. The little led light was a bonus I didn't know about, I like it.

I did have to get a tool for the knockout but it did say it in the directions. I’m used to just hitting it with a screwdriver and bam I have my wire access hole. Other than that it works fantastic!

Heed the warnings on the knockouts thing, but understand this: these reviewers aren't just weak or dumb or got a bad batch with sightly tougher knockouts... There aren't knockouts. Period. There are embossed circles, but they aren't thinner than any of the other metal, they're just guides. The inlet has a sheet inside telling you you have to have a knockout punch. If you don't already have one (you don't), that's going to add about $20-30 to your expense, even on the cheap at Harbor Freight.Save yourself the hassle, the trouble, the steel shavings, the cut knuckles, the money and the frustrated trip to the store, and just buy one of the many versions of this box that have real knockouts. Also only saw this mentioned in one other review: the top/front of the box has to tuck behind the box to secure to the front. That can't be done if the box is mounted securely to the wall--you have to back the screw out a little to tuck/jam the top between the wall and the box. Or maybe install the box standing of the wall with some washers to get clearance. This box just feels like the manufacturer cheaped out to get the highest margin on this one. Other manufacturers make the same box but without these cut corners. Pay attention and choose wisely. Pass on this one.Only gave it 3 stars because it's sturdy and it does the job once you've cursed yourself for buying the wrong one and don't want to wait for another to come in a couple days because you just want to get the project finished.

2017 with hurricane Irma, I wasn't prepared and I was using dryer cord from home depot to power my house. It is very dangerous. You can accidentally kill yourself or back feed the line and kill the workers. With this product I am safe.
